Post Lightning V8Star Pacecar

Hi Guys,

I found out yesterday by one of my members that the Lightning was the officially pacecar of Germany's 2002 V8Star races.
Here she is.

Here is another one.

What year do you think this model is?
Is it the True Blue color or was it painted?

BTW: They took off the Lightning batches.

Judging from the corner lights and rims,it looks to be a 99-00 Lightning.

Yeah, I saw that. And check out the honeycomb grill. I can't see the seats or the Explorer steering wheel but I wonder if is a real L. The fog light doesn't look cracked either.

Pretty cool looking though.

So, it's not a real Lightning.
That explains why they took off those batches.

Different rims, I have noticed that too.
But in that other picture, they look Lightning rims to me.

Well, there is no way to tell if it's real for sure without seeing it in person, BUT....

I'd be willing to bet it's not real.

The grille and lights indicate 99-00, although it does have 01-02 style headlamps

The rear slider is clear, which means it's 99 or older, 00s came standard with the privacy glass.

There are no visable cowl vent holes, so it's either a very early 99, or it's an earlier F-150

It's obviously not a 99 Lightning color, so it's either been repainted, or it's a regular F-150, which you could get in that color. I don't think that's the Lightning True Blue, looks a bit too light.

99 Lightning's didn't have the colored mirrors, but regular F-150s DID, which kind of backs up the above paint statement.

Either way it's neat.

The wheels in the top pic are most likely the on track set with rain tires, as the track is wet.

I think it's a real Lightning 99-00 vintage...With Photo-Shop wheels in the top picture.

Well, in the side pics, you CAN see the cowl vent holes, which means it's a later 99 or newer. The regular F-150 still had that grille and privacy glass was an option, not standard in it's recent years.

So if it's a Lightning, it's gotta be a later 99. If it's a regular F-150, I'd be willing to bet it's a 99 or 00, possibly an 01.
