The base X-plan price was 29,662. I orerd mine with the cover which has an innvoice price of $204, so I'll be paying 29867.58. Thats without taxes, title, and tags. I imagine it will be around $31,000 when its all said and done.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll be taking the performance route before I go for appearance, and yes, I know I'll love her!

It really is the way the truck should shift but doesn't. Its very livable for normal driving and when you get aggressive so does it. I do the second gear scratch at will and my truck is basically stock (no chip or pulley). And it lengthens the life of the tranny by cutting down shift duration (less heat and wear). I could go on forever about this thing....and its only ever had one complaint!! Do a search for: Bad Report on Factory Tech Valve Body.....He got bashed pretty bad on that one.
Thanks NW,
just a couple more questions...
will the valve body mod void your warranty?
do you have a part number for the bug shield?
and just where did you get the fog covers.. mine are already cracked..
Thanks
Dana

The valve body is made with ford parts but I'll let Greg tell you about that as I'm not the expert. I don't think it'll void your warranty but you could always put your stock one back in if your concerned.

I never had a part number on the bug shield. I just went to the Ford Parts Dept and asked for a low profile wrap around bug shield for a Lightning. It has the ford logo on the passenger side.

The foglight covers are made by Wade. I don't have the web addy but if you do a search on "Foglight covers" you should find the post where Mr.BBQMAN gave the link.

HTH.

Welcome to the club! I was born in Radford right up the road from Blacksburg. My dad went to VaTech back in the day. Jim Walls (TOTALED) lives not far from you in Salem I think. I'm not sure if he still has his Silver Lightning (bought an '03 Cobra) but it was fast as crap.

as for this:

Rest assured...you did the right thing. Here is a list of 6 must haves. There are many more but here is where to start and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

1. Chrome wheels
2. Snug lid
3. Factory Tech Valve body (the must have mod of the millenia)
4. Fog light covers
5. MTX Thunderform
6. Bug shield
I don't know what she's talking about, but here's the first six mods you need:

1. Chip
2. Lower Pulley
3. Factory Tech Valve body
4. Open Element Air Filter
5. Exhaust (cat back at least)
6. Wheels (this one could be exchanged with a stereo or tint or your choice of other appearance mod)

IMHO this is THE official list of top first mods

After these you start spending the big bucks to go faster, or else you just start doing lots of appearance mods.

later,
chris

VTSVT-

I tried to get X-plan pricing at a local dealership on an 03 L...They said they don't do special pricing on L's or Cobras. Did you have to search around for a dealership to do it for you? My brother-in-law works for ford and said he would let me use on of his "D" plans. Obviously, some dealerships are different. I'm in houston, anyone know of a dealership around here that does special pricing on SVT vehicles?

I don't believe that is accurate, the pcm for the '03 (or '04L for that matter) won't be different than the '99-'02. There is supposedly a new style pcm in the works (may see it on the new '04 F-150, but not the L), but it would require completely different wiring harness etc. maybe someone else could clarify with more info...

Yes I had to search for a dealer that would sell on x-plan. I e-mailed around 20 dealers and only 2 said they would do it. However, I found if you go to another dealer and tell them you plan to order one and the reason you choose "dealer x" was because they will give it to you on x-plan, most of the time that dealer would agree to do it too. Keep looking though you'll find somebody. Go to a dealer and tell them your only ordering if they sell on x-plan if they say no just walk away. Somebody will give it to you.

Superfords,

I've been to Radford many times, did you go to school there? So your Dad was a Hokie huh? I go there now, Senior year.
