Unhappy Hey you guys with windows in your block...

Just curious...(those of you unfortunate enough to reply to this, sorry in advance).....What chip/program were you running when your motor burst and what were you doing?...Only reason I ask, is because I have heard lately of slightly modded motors blowing up while expressway driving (80-90mph). Some of these people only had chips and filter...Just want to know if there is a relationship to a certain mod (ahem...aka:tuner) and everyday expressway driving---

---and to the Moderator's--please let this one go. I am in no way trying to bash anyone here...just would like to get the facts. If a certain mod seems to be "coincidently" involved here---I think it is my right to know!

Thanks again

Hevyresq, you'll have to e-mail people. Word around here is that you get 86'd if you mention what tuners chip was in your ride when it got laid to rest. Your rights are determined by the moderators. And I guess thats fair...I mean it's thier board after all. Plus, this is a really great board. I know at "S V T online dot com",(sorry for the spelling...the freakin thing put asterisks on it! Whats up with that? Are we not allowed to say that?..holy cow...you learn something new everyday you can run over there and ask, those guys will let you in on what they were running when some of them got wasted.... Good luck dude.

I have and use a chip from each of the 3 first tuners. I run 80 mph to and from work(39,600 miles on it now) with a 5 lb pulley too and I have no "windows in my block".

I think what has been happening (in some cases) is a chipped truck is run at or near WOT for an extended amount of time and the chips weren't tuned with that type of running in mind. The chips(unless you specify differently) are tuned for street(normal cruising) and/or track use. Some engs won't take that kind of driving with a chip.

Wait a minute here. You guys are telling me that I can stroke a tuner here and say how good a product is, but if something breaks on my truck, I'm not allowed to say what it was????? What kind of forum is this when you are not allowed to state a fact??. I dont want to bash anyone here, just get the facts on the vehicles that other forum users drive!!! Im not going to MF anyone here, just trying to learn...and after all, isn't that what this forum is all about?????

I am not afraid to say it.
When I blew mine on the highway I had the truck spun up to 135 mph when she made some holes in the block. I was using a 3# pulley and JL tunned chip and the temp was 15 below. I like JL tunning and still use it. That combo ran me a 12.81@106mph on the stock rubber. Some of you will say it was detonation that blew the engine and thats BS. What let go was some week rods. I got to see the engine apart after it happened and the plugs and tops of the remaining pistons looked fine. It was not JL' parts that caused the problem its just the cheep factory rods were not designed for the kind of power levals the Lightning can produce.

I hope you are not trying to start some ***** with JL cause I will not tollerate it. He is a nice guy and is always willing to help and you could not ask for a better tunner

The 252 replies and 9000 views thread " Shot a rod through my oil pan...." should put to bed the belief that threads get closed here because a SV is targeted...

Posts get closed cause people get attacked.

In this case it got closed because retics4me took a cheap shot at me...

Keep in mind I DONT MAKE THE RULES HERE... I dont control the **** filter.
