how many had s/c bearings go out

I had ford replace my s/c when they did the intercooler only 20k miles ago, now I have a howl comming from the snout especially at boost and when I put it in drive or reverse. I just noticed it since I added a filter kit. anybody-else?

Question

I don`t think there is anything wrong with your blower, you said that you added a filter kit, now the blower can breathe easier, thus making more power, what your actually hearing is the noise the blower makes, ( blower whine ) most everyone, myself included thinks it sounds cool.

I hope this helps.

Larry.

thx speeder

I do think this is a problem, I'd like to think this is common but I put my stock air box back on and I still have the squeal. I can make it do it just by stepping the pedal when just entering boost.
ahh crap

thanks for the replys

last night I took the blower belt off and fired it up... still whistles through the intake but the grinding noise was completely gone. I had the s/c replaced last sep. I wonder if ford will still warranty it. maybe I'll repack the idlers and see if that helps but the old screwdriver tells me its the snout bearing

I have had the snout bearings go twice, but only after Magnuson rebuilt the blower...once after 20 miles, second time after 5k and the third time is in the near future at around 1k.

But as far as the stock eaton,i don't know of anybody that has had there snout bearings shot.

If the dealer does not warranty it,do yourself a favor and have someone other then Magnuson rebuild it

Yea, but that was a works blower that was apparently "hacked' into. And his rotors went first.

I wouldn't call it hacked into. The intake was removed and a fitting was trimed. Then Shaun cleaned and replaced the intake.

For those who know Shaun, tell me if you think he ever hackes anything up?? I think he is one of the best mechanics I have ever met.

Also with 1500 miles on the blower why did the snout bearings wear out, and why was there metal in the oil. There is much more to the story than just bad rotor pacs.

If the supercharger was replaced it will have a new warenty, either from ford or from Eaton

The point is that the bearings rarely, if ever, fail on the stock blower.

no and yes, Ive had this sound for about a month and I thought it was just the new air kit that sounded different. I installed a #3 lower last weekend and it's more noticable now.it took the dealership 28 days to get me a new blower from ford, I wonder if they didn't send it back to eaton for rebuild instead?

i know some people were talking about the blower making noises after pulley installs, they called it 'cavitation' although thats not really the word for it. i would definitly repack the bearings in the idlers, but you might still wanna run a search on cavitation or cavitating just to see if that was the sound that it was making...somepeople say that it is sounds like a bubbly or gear nashing sound. someone i think even said that it is rotor pack gear teeth making the noise. just tryin to help...
