question about oil ingestion solution idea

First, I have an oil capture kit from REM and it works well and has continued to work... Thanks Paul...

Second,

I have heard many suggest that the reason that the oil is pulled into that tube in the first place is because there is not a "splash" guard or equivalent measure to keep oil from splashing on the tube opening in the cover...

So, why is it not possible to fashion something that would essentially amount to a bowl/tube with an intake tube in the bottom and a output tube at the top with some kind of baffle plate or weave or something that would not allow the oil to move upward but instead would just drain back down into the case?
I would think it could even be designed is such a way as to not restrict the flow of air at all or very, very minimally.

This seemingly is a simple solution (Tree Hugger Friendly) to the problem that would not require me to empty the bowl once a week. I dont' know what to do with that oil since I am not really fond of pouring it back into the engine....

All of the current solutions rely on capturing the oil as it goes sideways with gravity not being much of a help. A vertical solution could use a baffle, weave, filter, or whatever and it would use gravity to solve the remaining potential ingestion. My vision of this product would insert directly at the bottom and be at least 4-6" tall with the baffle or weave closer to the bottom... Maybe even two baffles or weaves. The "body" of this device would have to be big enough is size to cause a significant reduction in velocity once the air enters the device itself. This would keep oil from "spraying" upward and further allow gravity to do it's thing...

Anyone care to give me your thoughts?

Thanks!

Ken

I posted a reply over on NLOC. Again -

I read somewhere that there was not enough clearance between the cover and the vavles to have a spacer.

Truth or not???? I would love to know also as the valve covers will be coming off this winter
