Lowering kits, what is the best?!

I just got a Lightning a couple of days ago. I used to have a F150 STX and I lowered it by putting eibach springs in the front with lowering shackels in the back but every time I hit a bump it sounded like the rear hit a bump stop. Do shackels limit range and if so should I consider lowering it with different leaf springs? What are your guys experiances????????????

Whatever you do stay away from the Eibach 1" drop springs. A few others will agree with me here. I've been there, done that and they were horrible. They sagged way too much 1" turned into 2.5" in under a year.

i beg to differ: maybe you got the wrong ones??? i've had mine for about 2 months, and i love them, nicer ride, the install was pretty standard, and you know if you keep your receipt they have a ??? mile warrenty, so just get some new ones then...

there are plenty of kits out there though, the most popular are Belltech, Eibach, Ford Racing. any of the lowering kits are good lowering kits, i've been reading about them for quite awhile now and everyone has a different kit, and everyone is happy with there kit, so you cant really go wrong, it's all your choice.

I've good luck with my bell tech kit. its probably the most popular kit on the market too. Just don't get the bell tech nitro shocks, they arn't the best out there for it.

Well from the moment I installed the Eibach Springs I picked up a vibration through the steering column. The Eibach Springs are progressive and are meant to bottom out, well mine head 2 coils of travel, the rest bottomed out.

If you go back and Search, SpeedinBob and I installed them about the same time. A big dialog opened up then about too many coils touching and the truck resting on the bump stops. If I remember right SpeedinBob made multiple calls to Eibach, they could not explain it, no one could give a definative answer on what way they were supposed to be installed, and they won't tell you the spring rates. Speedin was smart and ditched his immediately, I waited a bit and suffered with a crappy ride.

I don't know some love em, some hate em. That's just my experience and opinion.

on small bumps, and smooth road, it rides extremely nice, but on the bigger bumps and stuff, sure it hits quite hard but i think thats due to the type of shocks we have also. i put mine in where you can look at the spring, and read where it says eibach and the model #, maybe that made a diff, or maybe there was no diff between that way or upside down.

who knows, i guess i'll let you know if i do have trouble.

I hate Eibach.

I won't knock they're quality. It's just their springs themselves.

Every Eibach car I have been in just doesn't cut it for the hype that everyone gives them. They are not the greatest handling because they are progressive springs, but more comfy them most linear springs. Also a few people I know believe that their rates are the same as or lower then stock rates. Not good IMO.

I just pulled out a set in my GTI that the previous owner had in there. Put in new shocks and 225/200 lb springs and the ride is more comfortable and stable then the previous Eibachs.
