Best way to inspect a used L
if it is a 99-00, see if has the upgraded intercooler. if not, expect to pay close to a grand for new fitment.
Discretely check the PCM to see if it has had a chip installed previously or not (pop off black access plate on the pcm with a flatheat screwdriver and shine a flashlight inside. No coating = its been chipped. If so, have dealer clarify IN WRITING if the warranty has been voided.
If it has over 50K miles, the coil packs should probably be changed ($500 if not covered)
If it looks good and passes the above tests.
1. change all fluids (oil, tranny, BRAKE, rear diff, and power steering.
2. change all filters (oil, air, tranny, and FUEL)
change PCV valve.
3. CARFAX.
all I can think of before heading into a meeting....
