what do you think about this

So it seems the only way chevy can compete is if they take everything out of the car and drop a big engine in do you think they are going to make this, has anyone else read anything about it? http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/in...t=ST&f=2&t=221

While I like the idea of a six speed manual... I can't imagine trying to shift one of these things quickly with an 12" shifter... which is about what it'll be for you to be able to comfortably reach it.

I had hearde this thing will be priced in the mid twenties... any news on that?

I think times have changed since the 60's, and I don't think GM will strip down the truck and sell it. Chevy was all over the Cobra R model a few years back saying that the Vette costs less and had all of the creature comforts that the Cobra R didn't have like AC, radio, etc. (I know the Cobra R was basically made for SCCA racing) I think these days the majority of the buyers would like to have nice seats, AC, radio, etc. Maybe they will offer to "Delete" options which would be cool.

Although it's not the popular opinion, I have to say I like it. I'm not just a FORD lover although I have all Ford in the Driveway. I like the ALL MOTOR truck and with no frills. I would rather be able to buy a less expensive model and add the options I want instead of being forced to buy a fully loaded model with certain things that I don't care for.
It's also weighs so much less. For the drag racers, it's perfect. You don't have to strip your truck down to get rid of extra weight, it already done.
I really like the air intakes in the front air dam.

Sorry guys, I'm not against all the other competion. I like um' all. If it looks good, goes fast and sounds like thunder rolling down the road, then it's welcome in my driveway.

Let me state that there is no rice burners that sound like thunder, they sound more like a fly in your ear.
My wife calls them "fake power".

Some of you may disagree, but I kind of like that truck. Read the description of the motor, it's built for performance, and the block isn't all that big, only 6.0 liters which is somwhere between a 350 and a 400, though I dont want to do the math righ now. Check out the stuff they put on it, sounds like something I would have done small block chevy sitting around, Roller cam, ported aluminum heads with smaller combustion chambers, 10.5:1 compression, edelbrock mufflers, Hurst, etc ...

ok, again my argument to all chevy owner's (and im always right)

FORD BEATS OUT CHEVY BECAUSE THEY CAN MAKE MORE HP AND TQ WITH A SMALLER ENGINE!

and it's true, just like this truck 6.0 V8 395hp, when are truck is 5.4 (.6 lit less) and 380hp.........

there T/A is a 5.7L at 320hp.... and ares is 4.6 and 390hp (even older cobras were 320hp)

thats the thing ford is far superier with the size of the engine that they give, compared to the competition.

The Chevy is a naturally aspirated engine, our's is supercharged. You are making a broad generalization.

it doesn't matter if its S/C, thats how it comes from the factory. in my opinon that's like saying that the only reason a Viper is fast is cause it's a V10.

i think thats a moot point since ours have power adders. well the chevy's bigger engine comes from the factory too!

but im just saying, that's always been a thing, of chevy always having to make bigger litre's to be in competition with us. not just the power adders. looks at the older trucks, are's was 4.6 v8's that produced about the same HP as there's with like a 6. ?? lit

you gotta admit that ford can do what chevy can do with a smaller engine. i mean wasn't the cobra r N/A and it was 385hp right? sure it's in a less weight car but still.

not trying to start an argument here, just my point of view. i thought you guys were ford guys anyways.... and if your not why are you driving a ford....... (cause the lightning and other fords are superior right?)

I think your missing the point. The Chevy will still be a dog b/c the power is too high in the rpm range to make 'everyday' use of it. The horsepower peak at 5500 is too late in the game.

395 horsepower @ 5500 rpm
409 lbs.-ft. of torque @ 4500 rpm

My personal opinion is that this is the very reason non-brand loyal truck buyers lean toward buying FORD's. Fords put the torque and h.p. down early.

Compare to my HD -
Supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter TritonTM SOHC V-8 engine rated at:
340 hp @ 4500 rpm,
425 lbs.-ft. torque @ 3250 rpm

...I can already tell you which one I'd pick.

...by the way, the SS is a looker. I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive one.
