I stopped the clunk by going to the front end shop and having them inject grease in to the front ball joint. Shop owner told me it was common fo Fords to be dry from the factory. He used a hypodermic type needle and stuck it into the rubber.Filled joint until a small amount of grease came out and no more clunk. That was three years ago and it is still quiet! Try it, it works.
