Long tube headers

I am contemplating long tube headers. For those of you who have done it, what HP/TRQ increases or change in ET have you seen? I ahve a 2001 with chip, pulley, bassani catback, and high flow cats. Thanks in advance. By the way how much louder are they.

Matt

I went with JDm Longtubes and catback. Full meal deal.

Here is my opinions is it worth it? YES

I went from a best of 13.084 @ 104 mph

to a 12.64 @ 109+ mph.

I also added a BAbolt TB since then. I don't thnk the TB helped that much.

this is just my facts, others may have different ones.

That sums it up.

Beefcake dynoed 5hp more.
Vinnie ran quicker after his.

I felt more of an improvement, but added way to many mods between the time I installed them and ran at the track, so I have no hard facts if they helped.

But they look good and sound even better.

I ran a 12.59 with just the cat-back at 1/4 tank.

One week later.I added a roll pan and long tubes and ran a 12.35 at 1/2 tank.

The weight of the fuel equals the rollpan and it was only one week later.
I was very happy with the results.

I was probably the first person to post independent longtube dyno results back in april or may of 2001. The longtubes I had were from lightningperformance.com; long before the Kooks came out.

If my memory serves me correct, my peak horsepower increased 7.0rwhp. Torque increased around 15 ft/lbs. At lower rpms (3300) I gained a maximum of 12rwhp & 17ft/lbs (or something like that). I had high flow cats dynomax race magnums and an H-Pipe. Sounds fantastic.

Some people think the headers make more of a difference when you increase the boost. I probably would not argue with that. Nobody has run 11s or without headers (and a big pulley) as far as I know.

Bottom line....I would do them again, but, if you are looking for most bang for your buck then go with a chip, filter and pulley first.

Thumbs up They work!!

I was running 12.50's @ 109 with a 4 lb pulley, chip, filter, Efan, Water Pump. I had the Headers and Full Exhaust installed upgraded to a 6 lb pulley, and and ran a 11.91 and 11.92 @ 114.63 over the weekend. Now you tell me if they are worth it???? LOL

...and an 80mm MAF and stock converter.
In the dec. issue of PHR magazine, JayDM claims 20-25 hp and 40ft/lbs with his long tubes. Um, yeah right .

Clipped from NLOC Best Times:
7 Spiro99SVT -------- 1.712, 11.408 @ 113.56

Now that 11sec timeslips are nothing new....that 60', 1/4 mile time, and MPH are a little off....maybe it was a 10 second run and had to hit the brakes for some reason.
