nitto vs goodyear

If you had the choice of buying either the stock F1's or Nitto 555s for the same price which would you get?

Definately Nitto's. Good years hidroplain to much in the rain. Had both, go with Nitto's

I'd buy the 555s just to get rid of the stupid sidewall ridges on the F1s. I get slightly better traction out of the hole on the street with the Nittos and handling isn't noticeably different. I think they look better, also. Now if I could just get a set of BFGs for the same price I would be set.

The 555's also have a higher load capacity, in case you're interested in towing or hauling something.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I liked my Goodyears more than my current Nitto 555-ZRs. The F1s seemed to let go gradually at the limit of traction while the 555s seem to break loose more unexpectedly. I felt I could push the F1s more than I could the 555s. It's a confidence thing.

My next tire choice will be the new style of F1s, hopefully they'll have our size out by then.

I have the Nitto 555R's (305/45/18) on the rears and I wouldn't consider going back to anything else.

I have yet to see how awful they are in wet weather driving, but I'm sure it can't be all that great. Standing water on the road will doom you in a hurry.

With a treadwear rating of 100, you'll be lucky to see 10K miles. I'm at 3500 miles now and can definitely tell they are wearing quickly. But in terms of traction on the street, they can't be beat.

I just got the Nitto555 and paid $190 a piece. Both have the same ratings so I sat the F1 and Nitto555 side by side and compared them, to me the Nitto had substantially more rubber, looked better and was the better value.

That website will have your local dealer.

Was the $190 price on-line or locally? Cheapest I can find right now is $207 with free shipping from discount tire direct.

Spank,
Discount is telling me $199 installed on the 555.

How close are you to a retail center?

Hummm, is discount tire and discount tire direct the same company? I am pretty close to the alpharetta store if that is what your talking about. $199 installed sounds like a killer deal.
