Broken Cobra half shafts ?

So what's going on with these things? I was at the track and saw 3 Cobra's. 2 of them snapped their half shafts. 01 and 03. Both were running drag slicks. The 01's only mod was a air cleaner setup. The 03 was running awesome, like 7.5's in the 1/8th. I was really surprised because at the NMRA world finals they didn't have a 66% failure rate like they did today. They both let go within 10 minutes of each other, after running all day long.

I saw an '03 break a half-shaft about a month ago at the track on street tires. I agree with Sal's idea of Ford offering a no-cost solid live axle option for the cobra.

I heard these half shalfs were the same construction as the Ford Explorer ones. Slicks + Chitty halfshalfs = broken stuff. Will warranty fix these? LOL.
