Question oil leak

When I got to work yesterday I could smell a burning oil smell, I didn`t think much about it until tonight when I could smell it again, when I got home from work it was dark so I couldn`t see much, but from what I can smell its comming from the back of the right head. I won`t be able to tell much until tomorrow, but does it sound like I have the famous oil leak from the head?, I have a little over ten thousand miles on my truck so it will be covered under warranty.

Mine leaked on the pass rear. The head dripped onto the cat and burned... Never left a puddle - Just stunk....

The same exact thing hapened to me. At times I can smell the odor of burning oil. Took it to Ford and they told me my passenger side head gasket is leaking. The worst part is the dealer said ford is redesigning the head gasket and that it won't be ready untill january.

There was a 3 ply "service fix" gasket. But there will be a 4 ply gasket coming out soon if it is not out yet. But personally I have trouble letting the dealer touch my truck. And I think they have to remove the engine to get either of the heads off. And letting them remove the engine seems like asking for all kinds of issues. But maybe there is a good dealer out there somewhere that will do you right. Hopefully they will do a good job.

As far as I know, they don`t have to remove the engine to change the heads, but with all that said, I just don`t like the dealer working on my truck, but I guess I don`t have much choice this time.

Not necessary to remove the eng. to remove the heads on a 5.4L non-Lightning p/u................should be the same for our Ls.
