???? For Don's Bolt
HI!... DON : Just curious. What kind of rims are you using on the rear of your truck for your slicks? Are they 15" or 16"? How wide and what's the offset? Thanks.:bows:

Hi Neal
I am running American Eagle 16x10 rims They are not the lightest on the market, they weigh about the same as the the American Racing Bajas, but I think they look much cooler. https://www.f150online.com/galleries...8-34-39493.jpg http://aewheel.com/wheels_detail.cfm?id=41 |
I am not sure the exact offset, but as you can see the offset is just about the same as the factory wheels

[Question]
HI!... DON'S BOLT : What size slicks are you running on those rims? What did you pay for those rims each? With that offset how close is the sidewall of your slicks to the leaf springs or inner fender well? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to find the cheapest, lightest, good looking wheel , THAT DOES NOT stick out of the wheel well. The 16x8 looks like it has the correct offset in that it has 3.5" from mounting surface to outside of rime compared to the LIGHTNING wheel's 3.7" from mounting surface to outside of rim. Basically I'm looking for a rim that sits in the stock location just inside the rear fender but goes towards the leaf spring as deep as possible without making the slick rub on anything. I really like those rims you have. Worst comes to worst I'll have to get the 16x8's and have them widened by WELDCRAFT. I might even get another pair of 16x8's and have them narrowed to 16x4 and run some "SKINNIES" up front for the dragstrip. Thanks. P.S : Don do you happent to have any rear or side shots of your rim/tire combo on your truck? I would like to see how much they stick out of the body line , if any. Thanks for your help. |
Neil
I don't remember what I paid for them, but from the best of my memory they were about $25 more than the American Racing wheels I was considering at the same time. I am running the 28x10-16 slicks Here is the only other pic I have https://www.f150online.com/galleries...1990-28064.jpg I would go measure the rim on the truck, but my truck is in NJ for a few weeks. I think if you get these rims they will be just fine, I think the y sit in a little closer to the springs than the American racing Bajas. |

here is a pic of my AR Bajas and hoosier 28x10x16's from the rear side...JR https://www.f150online.com/galleries...1173-21511.jpg |
HI!... Thanks guys!:beers: DON : With your set-up, could you still manage to fit a 28x11.50x16 slick? Would it rub anywhere? Like I said before, I'm trying to get the largest possible wheel/tire combo on my truck WITHOUT it sticking out of the body line. If you get a chance next time you haveyour slicks on your truck could you PLEASE take a measurement from the back side of the sidewall of the slick to the closest part of the leaf spring/inner fender well, which ever is closest???? Thanks again guys. i:bows:

Originally posted by Neal I'm trying to get the largest possible wheel/tire combo on my truck WITHOUT it sticking out of the body line. Pick the rims you like best, if you want the lightest go for the Bogarts. Weld used to make a nice light weight wheel for our trucks but they stopped making them for what ever reason. I think Rob G has a set of those weld wheels. You may also want to look at Centerline, they do make a few light weight 16x10 inch wheels. |
neal.. i took a couple of pics for you at the track the other day..
28" tall hoosiers on 16x10 eagle rims.. they dont stick out far at all. https://www.f150online.com/galleries...0-63-41738.jpg https://www.f150online.com/galleries...0-63-41744.jpg here they are with M/T's https://www.f150online.com/galleries...0-63-16157.jpg hope this helps! brooks |

HI!... CLONETEK : THANKS! For the pics. Those rims of yours are 16x10 with a 4.5 backspacing???? If so I think they are the same size and backspacing as DON's EAGLE rims. Thanks.

i think thats the backspacing on them...

HI!... Does anyone know of a place ONLINE that I can see some prices on these rims? They are the same 16x10 rims that DON'S BOLT uses for slicks on his truck. They are AMERICAN EAGLE series 184. Thankyou.

Do any of these wheels require shaving down the OD of the rotor like I used to read or is that not an issue with these wheels?
Thanks |
