Coil Packs
Coil Packs
I check the plugs to see if they were tight. Is there a wrong way to put the coil packs back in. They feel like they don't go in very far. I don't know if they are on the plugs all the wayor not. Truck seems to run fine. Will the truck act funny if one wasn't on all the way.
As you replace the coil pack, the rubber boot should slide right into the plug hole area. As the boot slides down over the plug, you will feel a slight resistance as the spring inside the boot compresses against the plug tip. The coil pack will not be exactly flush with the head and there will be a few thousandths of clearance between it and the head until you install the coil bolt. The bolt will press the coil to the head and keep the spring and plug tip in good contact.
Next time, get a big tube of dielectric grease(NAPA) and smear some in the opening to the rubber boot before you place it over the plug. This will make it easier to remove the boot/pack next time and keep moisture away from the plug and spring.
