Just curious if most people order there trucks or if there just wait for one to show up on the lot and buy what they got.

I put my name on the list back in december of 98 and then I ordered mine in febuary of 99 with my trade in. At which I had to wait til june for the truck to get here.

When I ran the NLOC, I had a thing worked out with SVT where they were going to give me the very first 99 off the assembly line. They had it all setup that I would be flown to the plant, and they were going to have a press thing with me driving it off the line at the end, and take pics and stuff. They wound up cancelling all that which really sucked. The way I was ensured truck #1, was SVT opened the order bank early for my order to be placed, then locked the order bank back up until the official release date. So technically I had the first 99 ordered, but since the bed covers were on material hold, all the trucks with bed cover options got pushed back and I wound up with truck 416 .

Needless to say, it was preordered . My 01 was preordered as well, but I cancelled it last minute and decided to keep the 99, then changed my mind again and got the 01, but it was not the one I ordered.

 

Yep,Ordered mine.Since I work for the Dlr I even drove down to the train yard and picked it up there.A lot of them come in with damage from driving onto and off of the transport trucks.
It only had 4mi on it!

 

I didn't. I just called the dealer to see if they had a black one, which they did, and asked if would do an x-plan, which they did, so I went and picked it up.

 

bought mine off the lot as a 2000 leftover,didnt want to wait for an 01,but at the time wasnt aware of the few minor changes which i have already upgraded to

 

Yes, me & the motorhead wife ordered ours in Nov. '00. I had called all over trying to make a deal. Nope, you can't order one.......we're only getting 3. Vegas dealers say.......we mark 'em up $8000 above sticker and people pay the price.

I was the first to respond to Mark "LightningForce" post at this site, that said "I'm ordering 2 L's and taking delivery of 1. Does anyone want one at Fleet price?". I was locked in at $29,100 back in Nov. '00. THANKS MARK !!!!!

We followed her via phone through the build and when on the railcar.

Arrived at the dealer in Mar. '00. We couldn't get there to pick her up till April. Left just as I asked..........No front plate holder installed, plastic still on the seats, filthy dirty with big SOLD on the windshield, and 7 miles. No scratches on her anywhere. They washed her up, filled up the tank, put another 5 miles on her Tires still looked unspun.

Came home pulling an empty car trailer in snow & ice.

She has been a Great truck!!!! 33,000+ miles No problems.

Can you tell that I'm as happy now as when I first got her???

I had no intention of buying an L. I was planning on getting a vette (to impress a girl of all things! , but a buddy of mine convinced me to at least go and test drive an L. So i figured it couldnt hurt to go for a little joy ride. Needless to say, I bought the truck the same day I test drove it.

 

Ordered. I ordered back on August 14, 1999 and took delivery on March 28, 2000. It was one helluva wait, but worth it.

 

I ordered mine in july of 99, and got it in march of 2000. Happiest day too, i was told we were going somewhere where i didnt want to go, and then all the sudden they pulled into the ford dealer and the black beauty was sitting right on the show room floor. It was awesome.

 

Went to a dealer in detroit and talked to the guys there. They said they had a black one coming in at the end of AUG. (this was early July).

I called them when I got back to NY and told them that if they would change it to Red, give me A-plan, and not try to stick me by making me buy extra crap (alarm system) that I would take it.

They agreed. So I ordered the Truck then and there over the phone.

Of course the dealer turned out to be a scumbag and tried to screw me in the end..but that's another story.

 

pre-ordered as well. Placed the order in Dec. 2000 with a $500 deposit and got the call to pick it up in March of 2001. That was the longest winter I ever had!!!!

 

iwent to my dealer the day the rumor started about the new lightning and told him i wanted it.he said he new nothing about it but if it came to be true i would get the first one he got.that was in late 97.about a year later i had a white lightning in my drive way.

 

I ordered mine on 10/31/2001 and it arrived in late January 2002. I was so stoked that night after I ordered it

How many of you guys remember seeing the L concept truck at the autoshow back in 1997?

That was the first time I saw it and I was like WOW!!!!!

I was at the chicago autoshow picking out my first car which happened to be a black 97 grand prix and walking around I saw the L concept. Me and dad where like wow and my step mother told me that I would have that one day if I worked hard and wanted it bad enough. Made me rethink working a little more, HEHEHEHEHE. It sure was pretty to see that truck the first time though!

I still got the video of the first time Car and driver got to test drive the L. I was sitting home on a sunday and flipping threw the channels and saw this black beast picture and it was like "up next is fords new lightning" so I poped in a video tape and recorded that show of it and I still watch that once and awhile. They talked about the SS and look its finally maybe going to hit production, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Thats the day I went to my dealer and put my name on the waiting list. god that was a long 6 1/2 months to wait!
