did a CT someone get rid of a '99 red L?

I stopped by a local dealership here in my area to take a look at the Lightning they had sitting out front. I'm always hoping for that "to good to pass up" Lightning. This one looked familliar for some reason.

It's a '99, red, billet grill, A-piller pod with A/F and I believe boost gauges, a little bit of rubber in the rear fender wells. It's got 36,6XX miles on it. They were asking something like 23,500 for it. Great price but too many miles for me.

I was just wondering if it was a regular here. Also wondering if there are any mods left in it and what kind of times it did.

I know how you guys drive these trucks, so maybe I should be looking at the new ones. It sucks. I like the truck I have now because of the work I've put into it. I would love to have a gen 2 but if I get one now the gen 3's will come out soon after and I'll be back where I started....wanting more!

Thanks!

I believe 23K for a 99 is way to much, especially when 01's are selling for 26K

I think they get more for them up here because they are rarer than they are down your way. I agree that it's too much but a '99 or '00 with under 20k would go for around 26.

I haven't really "talked turkey" with any of the dealers, so I'm not sure how low they would go. I would think that I could get a new one for under 30. I still owe on the truck I have now which I would guess would effect how much they would be willing to work with me.

When I went into this (large volume) dealership I just asked how many miles it had and how much they were asking. She told me and I said that's too many miles for me. She says, I know it's a lot of money. With the financing options of today, I could easily afford the payments on 23. It would actually be esier to afford a new on because of better rates. I guess she thought I couln't afford this one. I could but don't want one that's already had a lot of the fun worn out of it. I wouldn't buy from this dealership unless it was a great deal anyhow.

So, I guess it's not one of you guys who owned this one.

WITTOM,
If I was you, I would keep my options open. With that being said, I live in Florida and will be flying about 1500 miles next month to buy my Lightning. It cost me 310.00 for ticket and I'm saving around 5500 on the truck. Now the way I figure it, That’s 5190.00 tourdeds mods!

I'm in no rush. The Lightnings will be around for a while. I have had the supercharger on my 4.6 for less than a year. I figure I should wait till it's been on there at leat a year.

probie, thanks for letting me know. I don't think that would work for me right at the moment. I still owe on my '98, so I would have to do a trade in deal. My truck will be paid off soon so I figure I'll have more options then.

The one thing I know is that I don't ever want a vehicle that's not force induced. The Lightning has a really good set up in stock trim, with room for improvement. I have a couple other vehicles to consider as well. I like the Mustangs, but they're too common around here. I might end up getting something and add a supercharger and some related mods.

When the time comes I'll call on the experts, all you who have had the honor of owning and driving one of the best trucks on the planet, for a bit of advice.
