full intake, or just a filter?
I don't know is this has been touched on so I'll ask anyways. Is it worth it to pay the somewhat 200 dollars for a full intake of just go buy a k&n slip in filter? Will I be looking at a bigger performance gain with the whole intake package over the simple fliter?
IMHO, unless you get a ram-air kit, or shaker hood, it's not worth it. Slap in a K&N panel filter, and cut out the bottom of the airbox - you'd never notice a difference between that and an intake.
Plus, getting the air intake makes you lose the Lightning badge on the air box!

it all depends on if your savvy enough or not
i paid about 100 for my used jdm cool air filter kit...with a outerwear. sold my airbox for 55. so i'm out 45 bucks for a new cone filter kit....less than what the panel filter is...
hope this helps add some new perspective...

2, the ONLY reason I wouldn't cut the airbox, is because I wouldn't have the original part anymore - you don't have that either...
Oh well, to each their own. Personally, I won't go for an open air intake again until I either get a shaker hood, or can afford the JLP ram air setup...
I would just like to add that cutting a hole in the factory airbox DOES make a noticable increase in power, especially down low. Plus it increases blower whine!
I am sure the filter kits like the FastAir also work great, but for me the hole-in-airbox+K&N was the way to go.
