Angry i HATE my F'in Lightning!!!

You all know of my "shutting off" problem i been having lately.. well it happend AGAIN the other day, and today i go and pull chip, and reinstall per everyones advice....

Not even ten minutes later, truck studders and revs all over place, and she stops dead... 10min before getting started, only to keep shutting off completely.. IM F'IN SICK OF THIS SH*T ALREADY!

Please help a brotha out fellas.. heres my mod list, maybe something someones had that happen with my following mods?
Trucks ALWAYS run top notch with all these mods, but lately im just completely torn for answers....... and afraid to visit the unfriendly Ford stealer..

I had the same problem with a superchip - flip style- J49/69. I haven't had the problem since switching chips.

If I remember right the superchips are very sensitive with there pins. I think I remember some guys having to tape the chips in tightly. Make sure your contacts & chip are very clean, straight, and tape the chip in LEVEL!!

Does it do it with no chip in? Pull the chip and try it.

same problem with the Superchip style chip. I popped each upper contact free (bent down) on the chip itself. this made the connection on the computer board much much tighter. you really have to force it on. i never had the stall/bucking problem again, when i used that chip

what silverbolt said, pull chip completly if problem goes away its your chip or the connection to the PCM

What year is your truck?
the newer PCMS boards are thinner. When you cleaned it off if you go even just slightly too deep and contacts are showing copper alot of times the chips won't even make contact. I think thats 01-02's only the cux1 cux2s are fine. If thats that case you may need to remove EEC and build up the contacts with solder.

Chris - first pull the whole computer and re-install the chip that way so that you are sure it's tight. If you want you can hook it up to my laptop w/ the ease software and see if anything doesn't look normal.

Also you might want to head down to JDM's and get a reburn.

I had the same problem, it stalled every now and then. Very annoying. Since I've had a new program I have not had 1 problem with stalling.

krix330cic,

Sence you are local stop by the shop .
We will take a look at it.
I will hook it up to the WDS.
Sense you say it does it without the chip.
It might be one of the pins in the 104 pin connector.
That is not making full contact.
This is the connector that hooks up to the PCM.

Let me know if I can help.

Your chip is not making a good connection. This happened to me the day I installed my chip. I went for a test drive and as I was exiting the highway the truck shut down. Needless to say my chip was had wiggled its way lose.

Check your Intake Air Temp Sensor. I played with mine and my truck stopped stalling. It was also custom tuned so the chip was out so maybe it was the chip. Just a thought. Goodluck, -Mat-
