Angry Pod paint -- where to get? $^%&$&

Getting the runaround. Have the specific part numbers for the Ford interior paint (#M4JZ . . .) and plastic primer (#F6AZ . . .) to paint an AutoMeter gauge pod. Star Ford in Glendale, CA (don't even get me started on these guys) tells me they can't sell paint, so I have to call their body shop. The body shop does not know what the hell I'm talking about and sends me to the paint store where they buy their materials. The paint store, of course, thinks I'm nuts.

What's up with a Ford dealer not being able to sell a Ford part?

Just what is it I'm buying--spray cans, I assume?

Just where can I get it?

How much should I be paying?

Thanks,

This is what I use Tim: M4JZ-19M547-4245H for the paint. I don't have the primer number handy, but there is only one. Hope that helps .

Tim...what's going on man? Hope to have some new dyno results for you in the not too distant future. And thumbs up on the web site too. I bought the paint at the local Ford daler and I think it ran me about $10 a can (I used one for the pod itself and forgot that I had to paint the push pin heads so I ended up ordering another one). If you can't find it local try fordpartsonline.com...which is actually Atascadero Ford in CA (nearly 'local' for you).

Hope that helps,

Dan

Sorry, Sal. I have the numbers--I omitted them from the post for clarity. I obviously failed.

My problem is where to get the stuff. From my Ford dealer, right? When Ford tells me they can't order Ford parts, well, the rest is pretty much downhill from there. "Hello right hand, meet the left hand."

I'd be more than happy to get it for you if you aren't in a rush. Will take a couple days to order, but at least you'll have it. Just let me know.

Tim,

We keep that paint in stock for all the installs we do. Too bad you didn't ask about it yesterday..........I could have sent it with that "other" piece you got.

I used Malco paint on mine. I bought two seperate colors and don't recall which I used. I think It was the one on the left. $5 a can. I've painted two and the pods look factory. I know others who have used the same paint and have had excellent results.

Try another dealer. Their are zillions of Ford dealers. Shouldn't be that hard to find one that can order this for you.
