A good ole 99 Lightning dyno day
A good ole 99 Lightning dyno day
Nothing spectacular to post here, I just spend the day on the dyno tuning a customers 99, and wanted to share the info.
Truck came to us as a 99 with 35k miles, pretty much all stock, with just a cheezy Downs air filter kit on it. We installed a PSP 6lb lower with belt, Denso IT22s gapped at .030, and of course our chip.
For a 99 with just a pulley, plugs, filter and a chip, I was quite surprised and pleased at the power. When I was done tuning, it made 392/512, at 11.7-11.8 A/F. Again, this truck was bone stock, with just the filter, pulley plugs, and chip. No MAF, TB converter, exhaust or anything else. However the 6lb pulley and 80mm MAF didn't play well together. The 80mm was pegged at 4800 rpms. It didn't affect A/F, as I was able to tune around it, but you could see the power start to drop off from the restriction over 5k.
Just wanted to share. You don't see too many trucks with such few mods make this kind of power often, let alone a 99. Kind of reminds me of my 99 that made 410 with just a 2 lb lower

Sal,
You suck!
I wish I could get that kind of tune for my '01. It's a long drive to Long Island though.
The tune you sent, for the dyno runs I made, is working pretty good though. No complaints here.

Glad to hear it's working well. You know I'm always willing to work with people to get those tunes tweaked
. The nice thing is 90% of our mail order chips are almost dead nuts on, and I've actually had customers come up for dyno tunes, and we couldn't make any more power than the mail order one I sent. They always leave happy though!

I'll tell you what.......... The dyno graphs I get from your tunes are always so smooth it's nuts. Never choppy or wavy, all the way up to red line. Very impressive for a mail order chip. Especially for my mish-mash of mods.
I really appreciate the time you put into the product you turn out.
