Platinum Plugs are known for retaining heat really bad and this can cause Detonation. This is a known killer for motors and no engine will withstand very much of it. Thats why you are going to a colder plug in the first place to keep from Detonating with the added boost from installing a pulley, why would you want to put a Platinum plug in if your trying to lower the temp in the cylinder. If your having to change your NGK's out often then you are most likely running a plug that is either to cold or the gap is to close. A wider gap will allow the plug to clean itself more. You should always run the hottest plug you can safely and with the widest gap you can without having misfires. If you gap it to wide the ignition system will not be able to produce enough power to make the plug spark under pressure and can burn out a coil if not taken care of. Read the article in the first post of this thread and take a look at the second page on how to read a plug it pretty cool.
