R.E.M Chip and Porting plus F.T Valve Body gets me 9/10ths!!!
Well...............went back to the track this past Friday after a LOOOOONG hiatus................my last trip was back in April, bone stock, with very similar, if not identical, temperatures and conditions.
Well, since April, I got all the mods listed below. I doubt the exhaust did much, if anything, so basically my "GO" mods are the chip, ported T/B and upper plenum, Factory Tech Valve Body, and the K&N filter.
4/02 (STOCK!!!): 14.31 @ 97.73 MPH, with 2.18 60'
11/15/02: 13.40@103.03 MPH, with 2.02 60'
Backed up with a 13.41 @ 103.42 MPH, with similar 60' times. The only thing I did different from my stock run back in April, was reduce the rear tire pressure on the F1's from 34 to 26psi, and left the fronts at 34. I know I still have room for improvement on my 60 foots.
I was SHOCKED at the improvement. Not just that, but with better temps, better launch, some weight reduction, and slightly more aggressive tune, 13 flats might not be too far of a thought! In the process I whooped up on a LT1 Z28, and an LS1 Trans Am.
I wanna thank REM for awesome products, service, know-how, and advice on how to tune this truck. I am very happy with my times without going to an aftermarket pulley..............YET!
lates,
JC

Nope...........ran on F1's...........I don't have any traction devices or a driveshaft loop yet, so I can't use slicks.
I'll get you guys the info on the place that rents them out for whomever can use them.
BTW, the temps were NOT cool on Friday night up there.........it was as humid as a typical Spring or Fall night, (you could see condensation on the roof), and 74 degrees was not all that wonderful.
But, looks like December/January might be looking good!!!
