You might go to the 'Classifieds' on this BB and over on www.nloc.net for used mods. For instance, many people start out with a 2 or 3 lb pulley and then upgrade to a bigger one.

For performance, remove your hitch, spare tire, and jack and lighten up your L. Some guys have cut holes in the bottom of the air filter box to allow more air into the eng. while some have removed the bottom altogeather. A K&N air filter is only about $45(?) and will work with the cut out bottom. Get a Goodyear Gatorback s/c belt($25) and eliminate any slippage. Change over to Mobil 1 synthetic oil. Make sure to check the tire PSI(after they sit overnight)--32 PSI COLD in all four(better mpg and tire wear).

And, last but not least, get a new Ford fuel filter NOW! Yours may never have been changed and a clogged one can cause your eng. to run lean and detonate-BANG! I just bot one at lunch time for about $14. If this is your first Ford fuel filter change, you will have to buy a fuel line disconnect tool at PEP Boys, etc for about $12.

Do a 'search' for details on the above suggestions.........

That oughta get you started .

Dan

YES......how many miles on your 2000? The filters clog up pretty quickly. Whether you are just daily driving or 1/4 mileing, your eng. needs all the clean fuel it can get, especially at WOT.

Factory Tech Valve Body should be the first modification anyone makes on a Lightning. The quicker shifts probably make as much difference in performance as any other of the traditional first mods. It'll feel like a new truck entirely.

Go with a chip, if the truck doesn't already have one. It will cost you around $350.00

The Z06 is a tall order if your friend knows how to drive it. No one mod is going to do. A chip, filter, 6# pulley, colder plugs, and traction bars should do it. This will get you some serious respect from just about anybody.

your tune is going to be your biggest power adder, it is what all your other mods are based off of. In my opinion its better to get a chip tuned to your truck and your mods rather than using a programmer. You are more flexible using a chip that can be re-burned in the future for added or changed mods to your vehicle. One of the major tuners can help you in this dept.

Sorry man, reaction time has NOTHING to do with you ET. I have sat at the light many times when someone REDLIT on me, just to show this. Its a common misuderstanding some people have. The ET time does not start until you truck moves, not when the light goes green.
