Question How do the windshield wiper arms come off?

i have been wanting to take my wiper arms off for a while now, but can't seem to figure out how they come off. i removed the plastic cap, and took off the nut that is on there... still won't budge. i figured i would ask before i break something.

Don't be afraid! Keep pulling, they'll come off. The rod they're mounted on is tapered slightly. Just wiggle it back and forth. The real pain is lining them back up cuz there's no detent to keep them straight.

What Spudbolt said!!! They can be a bizatch to get off. Mark them with a line across the top to realign them when you put them back on. Just keep pulling and wiggling, they'll come off.

Take a paint stick and put a line across the stem and arm assembly, then put some pressure straight up and tap with a wooden/plastic/brass hammer......they will pop off

edit***I said tap .....not smack***
