Looking to spend about $7,500 for new soundsystem

Once I get my truck back (@ 4 weeks) I am going to have a new system installed. Any suggestions????? I am looking at spending @ $7.5k, however, not more than $10k. My system is currently 100% stock.

Thanks for any input,

Dave

I figured that is what it would take for a top of the line system. I really don't know much about stereo's. How much do you think a top of the line system would go for?

not more than $10k
Why bother putting a limit on it? Damn, that's a lot of dough.

I have a friend that use to sell high end systems, I'll ask him. Do you have any idea's like features, etc? I don't know much about stereo's but seems like you could get pretty much anything for that much. I'm assuming that you want it all in the cab right?

air1kdf-

My only criteria is as follows;

1. Head unit must be able to play DVD's.
2. No cutting / drilling / etc. dashboard
3. Top of the line equipment.
4. Must all fit in the cab (I have center console if that makes a difference)
5. Lots of bass.

I have all Krell equipment at home which I really enjoy, however, they do not make car stereo equipment.....

Thanks,

Dave

Go to Crutchfield.Com , I put together a future system for my L for less than $1000 all Alpine components. I will replace the original speakers with Alpine 2-ways, 2 10" subs powered by an Alpine 50x50 amp, Alpine head unit . The head unit puts out 27x4 for the 2ways. Good sounding system not very very loud but much better than stock for sure.

man... thats a lot... crap there are a lot of choices then. haha maybe do like a guy down here that owns a audio shop (98 f150 extended cab short bed where he joined the cab and bed together and the whole bed is a box) ya could do that, or maybe a box in the bed with ports to the cab... if ya want the best you most likely need to throw the subs n shiznit in the bed (more space). haha maybe 6 13W7s with a crossfire 2000D to each... hmmmmmmm thatd be fun... with jl 5x7s and a really nice dvd/mp3/xm deck. it all depends on if ya have any brand loyalty (many people dont like JL Audio, like me, but the W7s are nice...) email me (hhs_swimmer@yahoo.com) lots of custom system layouts and i can prolly get ya some of the best prices because i get it straight from the factory (no seperate dealers or supliers) but e mail me and tell me what ya are thinkin bout and ill see what i can do. i set aup a system for a guy in an excursion and it bumps like crazy (shakes car mirrors about 6 car lengths around him WITH THE WINDOWS UP) also, what kinda music/sound do ya want? do you want nice tight bass? loud ear bleeding bass? do you want lots of spl? (like my expy... if i have it 3/4 pumped and the amps on full its a little hard to breathe on certian songs...) but thats me.. i love hard hitting bass, but its not for everyone. so just email me dave.. ill see what i can do fer ya buddy...

I would go with Kenwoods Touch Screen DVD/TV tuner around $2500;

If you do not want to cut out the back wall for subs you will have problems fitting in alot of stuff without it being cluttered or visible from outside the truck.

I would suggest maybe 2 or 3 subs across the back. My personal preference would be JL Audio or Eclipse Titanium Subs, both have minimal air space requirements.

Hell, for $7500, MBQuart's Q series components are about the best money can buy... $1500 for a set of 6 1/2" components. Then about $900 for coaxles for the back.

For amps, Xtant are top of the line and top dollar too, they produce very clean power.

The total will probably put you close to your $7500 mark easily. I'll try to scrounge up some exact models and maybe some websites, but this is a quick response.

Look into Mcintosh car stereo stuff. For that much money i would at least recomend getting dynaudio component door speakers. You will most likely spend alot of that just on the install since you want all that stuff in a reg cab. Plus for high end systems you start getting into sound proofing the cab and makeing specific chambers for the door speakers.

Good advice, dont go into an Audio shop saying that you want to spend $7500 specially if you dont know that much about sound systems. They will try to squeeze that $ out of you. Sell you stuff that you dont really need, sell you stuff at twice the price. The main thing get a good head unit thats the heart of the system.

Dave dont be so cheap. This guy will take $15-20k from you in a heart beat. Ask for Ernie. Tell him Steve sent you. I might get lunch out of it.

hahaha.. ususally i dont get a dime from the systems... car audio is a lil bit of a hobby fer me and i love hooking people up so there are more people out there bumpin down the street... especially with an L... cmon ya got THE BEST truck ever and why not put lots of good stuff on it... i can hook ya up, or just help ya.. just grab an i dea on what kinda bass ya want and how much. that will help us out a lil to find out if a sealed or ported box is good, helps on the subs and everythin. i mean its so much fun to run down the streets settin off car alarms and having people wonder why you put on earplugs when ya get in your truck. but i went from hard hittin massive spl bass (hit 143.8 fer SPL... CERTIFIED) to tight bass fer my rents truck and its quite a difference... but its makin it hard to get lots of bass in a reg cab w/o runin it in the bed...
