Time to upgrade the ignition?

Well, I am running a JLP 8# pulley and a smaller JLP upper (for a total of 18psi). It runs just fine with this combo (will be going to the track once my powercooler comes in). I tried a 100 wet shot on top of it and did not run strong. It seemed to pulse. I was thinking it may be blowing the plugs out. Could this be the problem? Once the powercooler and my reburned chip comes in I will be trying a 50 shot to see if this still occurs.

If your plug gap is too wide, it could be blowing the spark out. What do you have them gapped at?

It may be time to upgrade the ignition with that much cylinder pressure. What are the 'pros' using, Sal Jim and JL?

How about your fuel system. That is a huge demand on it.

The wet shot runs independent of the stock fuel system.

Wet shot has it's own fuel pump?

thats what I'm thinking too, but there was a guy with a seperate fuel pump just for his juice.

Who was that?

I would think its your fuel not your ignition. the stock setup is a pretty good one and the tuners are using stock setup's right now right?

Pulsing while going down the track is usually an indication of a lean mixture. If you've got the twin 255s, your fuel system should be able to support that, so you might want to check your tune and your A/F ratio on the spray.

I doubt it's ignition related. There is really no reason to upgrade the ignition systems on these trucks. COP is about as good as you get, after all, each plug has it's own coil . As long as your plug gas isn't too wide, then you should be fine. I run the bone stock factory ignition, with BR7s gapped at .028, at 18 psi and 240 shot of nitrous, and have zero ignition problems.

Wet systems don't have seperate fuel sources, they inject fuel through the nozzle, instead of through the injectors. They sill work off your main fuel system. Avdawg made a secondary fuel system just for his nitrous, but he's the only one I've ever seen do that.

Thanks for the replys. My plug gap was at .026 and running IT22s. Now after talking to Sal I have them gapped at .030. I am going to replace the fuel filter and try a smaller shot and check the a/f. If everything looks right I will step the jets up again. Yes the 255 fuel pumps are installed. Thanks for your help.
