help please on blower

ok when i was porting my blower and removing the snout or nose whatever you call it i accidently pulled the snout off where it holds the supercharger oil and it all leaked out. so do i need new supercharger oil where do i get it at because i am all done but i can't drive it and how do i fill it up and how much does it hold. I live in southern california like Los Angeles are. By the way the four holes in the supercharger where the outlet is does pluging them up relly get more power because i am afraid to do it and does ford put them there or did eaton do it

thanks alot

First off by the sound of your post I would recommend you do not do any actual porting. No offense, but you either didn't do much research or the info you found did not sink in. Please go back and properly use the button before you get in way over you're head.

Here is your first link:
http://captainoblivious.tripod.com/truck/blower.html,
there are a few really good threads on this site also.

Second - for pulling the blower apart you're fine. The fluid is supposed to come out, most people just pump it out which is neater. Pulling the blower apart is faster and messier. You will need about 8oz's of supercharger fluid. I believe you can it from Ford, from GM (supposedly cheaper), or JDM carries the redline fluid (other tuners may also have it but I don't know).

Third - covering the holes, yes it will increase power, SOTP power no but some. Those holes were put there to quiet the blower down at the sacrafice off *some* efficiency. So don't expect miracles. It's just one piece in the puzzle to get more airflow.

[edit] spelling and ...
Forgot your other question filling it back up:

To fill the blower back up with supercharger oil, put it back together and make sure you use something to act as a thin gasket for the front snout. Stock it came with a layer of read loctite around it. When I sealed mine back up I just used a thin thin layer of RTV sealant. Once you have it bolted back together remover the small bolt in the front, the one that takes an allen wrench. Then just poor the fluid in there until it comes up high enough to start leaking out (or just before). Then put the bolt back in and tighten and you are all done. [/edit]

Nick - no offense but I don't care. The way your post was written made you seem like you didn't know to much about what you were doing, so I made the assumption that my initial impression was correct and called you out on it. Not everyone likes getting over their heads or screwing up something that is going to cost them. Personally that is how I learn best and I enjoy it, but not many people share the same beliefs. I can be very blunt at times but getting my point across is my main concern.

With that said keep us updated on any SOTP improvements you notice. If you can get any pictures I would like to see what you did to your blower.

[edit] Also did you port match the blower and intake plenum? Did you also make a spacer to go between them?[/edit]

The spacer is just like a TB spacer except it goes between the plenum and blower. According to Dale (BadasL) he flow tested an extra 30cfm from 1/2" spacer.

I made one out of 1/2" aluminum. Still haven't put it on yet (need longer bolts and gaskets.

You can make one yourself or have a machine shop make one for you. A place by me quoted me around $120 for one. Easterisland said that he knows of a place to get one cheaper. If you want to make one yourself I have left over aluminum that I could sell you so you could make one.

Check out the last few pages of this thread, there is more info on it, there are other threads also.

sweet man thanks alot for your help i think i can make one on my own no problem. I was reading that you did not take in dyno numbers before or after but i did i got the super charger fluid and will put it back together tomorrow morning and will dyno it on thursday. I will tell you my before and after numbers when i get them because i want to sell the upper plenum to anyone who wants them by just doing a swap so we will see if ther are big dyno numbers. I did the upper plenum on sunday and bolted it back on and i must say huge power increasements and once i get this blower on i will let you all know

thanks again

It really wasn't that hard to make one, just a little time consuming. I made mine on a dremel scroll scraw with really no problem, but I could tell the 1/2 aluminum was about the thickest metal the saw could take. Probably would have gone alot quicker on a band saw w/ a good metal cutting blade. One suggestion, when you cut it out cut everything a tiny bit before the line you drew and then sand it down to the proper size. That way it will take care of any imperfections the cutting could have/will cause. If you look close enough in my picture you can see what I am talking about.

Vinnie - haven't even had a chance to touch them since sunday. No rush at this point.

RE: the spacer... wouldn't it be easier to cut one out of some 1/2" phenolic plastic, similiar to the spacers available for everything from carbs to Ford 5.0 EFI upper intakes? Would seem to be a bit easier to machine... assuming a source is available for the plastic.
