What size slicks

I was wanting to get slicks and new rims for the Lightning. My question is what rim are people using (stock or a light aftermarket)? Are you using full drag slicks are drag radials? What size tire are you using?(O.D. and width)

Thanks for you help

I am running hoosier 28x1-16 slicks on some 16x10 inch rims.

They work awesome, the only thing better would be some 15 inch rims with some 28 inch slicks, but then you have to cut the calipers.

If you are buying new and have a fair amount of mods, I agree with Don, go with the 28". If used is an option a set of 26" MT ET Streets can be had on a pretty sweet deal. They will work fine until you want very low 12's or better. I am running 28 X 10.5W X 15 MT Drags right now (only 2 runs so far) and they hook like mad. NO SPIN AT ALL.

Eric

I won't mention what I am going to do with my 26" ET streets and wheels here, because this would not be the right place to bring up that somebody had something they no longer had a need for and would not see anything wrong with somebody offering to exchange US currency for such item........or something.

Be prepared that a 10"+ wide wheel will hangout some. A 26X8x16" will also work. Since you have an 01 it has 3.73 rear gears and a 26" tire will be good for high 11's low 12's before your engine rpms get too high..

That is very impressive on any tire! You run on a well prepared track up there I take it. If I get my 60' in that range I will join ya' in 11 land.

Mid Michigan Motorplex has track prep second to none.
If we could borrow the elevation and barometric pressure of the east coast ...we could knock off a couple more 10th's off our et's
