I was the SLOWEST Gen 2 at Carolina Dragway today.......
After a 3 hour drive, I loosened the OEM lug nuts, jacked the L up, removed the OEM tires, went to install a M/T..........and realized I had left the ARE wheel lug nuts at home
. I torqued the OEMs back on and
Ran a 14.9xx@102xx on the first run. I backed that up with a 14.6xx@102xx right afterwards. Then I parked it!
Others did much better. There were about 15+ Ls there with a lot from Cobb Co.(Atlanta).
Rusty ran a new best of 12.2xx@107.xx(?) and probably was the quickest L there and may have had the best time of any the street vehicles??? His brother ran a 12.xxx@??? with his 03 Cobra.
Erin(sp?) of METCO fame ran a 12.7xx with his 02 HD and a 50 shot of nitrous. Beautiful truck with a 2/6 pulley combo, chip, and his own METCO traction devises.
Most of the day(about 2 hours) I watched Cornercarver(Paul) troubleshoot(he's an electrical engineer) DL's nitrous system. He finally nailed it down to a defective solenoid or switch--I think. I d/k if DL got any runs in.
The temps were in the 70s(high 0f 75) so some power was down. Great event that the South Carolina Mustang & Cobra club put on twice a year at this track. Maybe I'll have my feces togeather this coming spring--but don't count on it

David made a run but had no change. I'm pretty certain he's got a solenoid problem. We'll get it straight and get him into the 11's.
BTW, my grandmother could pull better than a 2.7 60'.
yep old timer done forgot his lugs and i wander what else he forgets! he definetely didnt leave his cigar!!!
we had a great time today. i did manage to get my new best a 1.65 60' 7.74@87 and a 12.26 @ 107.82. temp was still in the 70s and kinda humid too. my brother got a new best time with his cobra a 7.8x 1/8th and a 12.13@116. cobras are flying. i had a blast and good to see some familiar faces.

So Dan, are you saying you forgot your nuts?

Rusty: I did forget my gallon of whupass!
Having said all that, I did enjoy myself. Several pretty women, one of which drove her daddy's silver 01l--Amy, I think. I asked her what she had run and she said she couldn't understand her timeslip. I looked at it(and her
) and showed her where she had run a 13.1xx(?) with a 6 lber, if I remember correctly.David(DL) was his normal good-natured self. He never let the nitrous foul-up get him down. Truly a funny, good guy!
Rusty was "MR. Calm" even with a new best. The young guys like him will keep the future of Lightnings open and forward-looking. He is a class-act even if he is a 'young fart!
Cornercarver(Paul) is another good friend who is ready and willing to help out. He know's how to make his lightly-modded L run quickly.
I am sorry I didn't get to speak to that many of the other guys there but I couldn't tear myself away from 'the electrical fire-storm' in front of DL's gorgeous red L. When he purged the nitrous, it was awesome--two 'cold', white, frost-coated tips sticking up from the cowl!
And for the guy that laughed at my bumper sticker("No Votes for Turncoats"), we WON!
