Any info on Nitto NT 555 tires?

Does anyone know how good are they? How do they compare to the stock F1's? Are they a better handling tire? Do they last less miles compare to the F1's?

Thanks

I haven't heard about the NT tires. What is the difference between them and the 555R or just the normal 555?

Nitto NT 555 are the street tire version.
Nitto NT 555R are the drag radial version.
Nitto NT 555R2 are the road racing version.

THey are all good tires. They are inexpensive, and each have their own strongpoints.

The drag radial are good for about 8000 miles of everyday street driving, before you will most likey need to retire them to track only duties. I ran those on my Mustang for a couple years. Replaced them every 7500 miles, and their wasn't a stickier radial out there.

The 305/40 series should be a nice rear tire setup on the Lightnings.

I have been running a set of the 555's on the back now for about a month. Seem to be a tad better that the F1's (old style) but still not a lot of traction for my truck. I have had better success with the TA's on the front and back on the street. TA's don't last as long, very soft, but the 555's are better than the old F1's.

I have 305/45/18 555R's on the back of my truck and 295/45/18 555's on the front for 5K miles. They have worked fine for what I use it for. My F1's had 15K miles on them and still have 1/2 the tread left, so I'm not as hard as some on the tires for what it is worth. I plan on continuing to use the nittos on my next wheels 305/45/18 555R's on the back and 255/45/18 555's on the front.

I've got over 38,000 miles on my original F1s. They just spun and spun today(see my "slowest" thread) and are going to have to be replaced soon.

How do the Nitto 555 Street tires(I have M/Ts for the 1/4) compare to the TOYO Proxes? See this link:

http://www.treadepot.com/td.c/orders/index.html

They are a little cheaper............???

I would like to know the same thing. The 555's are 300AA and the Toyos are 420AA - which one would get better traction? Obviously the Toyos would last longer, but would they be as good for traction than the 555?

I have had Toyo Proxes on my old Mustang, next to Falken Radials, they were the worst phuckin tires I have ever used.

Nittos will be the next set of tires on this truck. 295s front, and 305 DR's rear. And you can get them cheaper than listed above, look locally.
