Anybody use 3M invisible bra?
Anybody use 3M invisible bra?
I am getting a new bumper cover for my '01L after I hit an object on the freeway. I wanted to reduce the nicks and scratches from road debris, and was wondering if anybody out there has any experience with the invisible bra from 3M. Please post if you do. Thanks, Todd
I saw an L with the same or similar product at Carlisle PA back in May or early June of last year at the All Ford day. It was really clean looking. Everyone could tell that there was "something" different about the truck. Really, all you could see was the lines around the edges. but it was very professionally done. and looked good. I forget if the owner said that this was removable after a period of time or what. except for the outline, you couldn't really tell though.

3M Bra
An L owner off of NLOC had one installed and yuo can't even tell. Here's the truck, it was also the same truck posted on EBAY 2-3 days ago. Cant even tell it's there. He had the hood, bumper, mirrors and fenders done. He hails from Austin if I'm correct.
They work fine and if done right it is really hard to tell its there. We use a version on the new coaches at my work to prevent some of the chips and small stuff. But be careful when you wax the truck or it does stand out like a soar thumb. Post pics if you do decide to use.

About 2.5 years ago i was parked nex't to wyldman at an event in bowling green, and if he had not mentioned that he had this clear bra,i would not have noticed, and his truck is black.
I thought it was a good idea...
...til I looked at the price: an online complete kit for the L was like $750. Installation extra. Who are they kidding??????? Plus, the shop they listed as a dealer had never heard of the stuff before. Let's say my level of trust in their competence to do a good job was less than complete.
$300-$400: YES!
$750-$900: HELL NO!

There are different levels of the kit. The basic kit does the bumper and immeidate front of the truck. Then they have add on sections optional that do the ground effects, windshield pillars, and some other parts. If you do a lot of highway driving, and you don't like rock chips, it's worth the $$.
I use this stuff on my truck, but not for the body. I have my roll cage covered with it. You can't even tell it's there, and it protects the paint from getting all messed up from getting in and out of the truck. Works awesome.

Wyldman from HALO club had it done a couple years ago. ON a black truck the wax buildup in the seams was visible ...
Worked good at protecting though...
Which is worse white lines from the wax or rock chips ...

Yeah, wax lines suck...
I DID buy some tape from a place and applied it myself to the ground effects stuff; put a strip on the hood, but didn't like the lines.
Would be nice if there was some sort of plastic spray-on stuff that could be blended into the existing paint...like the hard, invisible stuff they can put on your teeth.
