Kenne Bell dyno numbers
Kenne Bell dyno numbers
Took my 99 Lightning to Danny Swansons to make sure everything is safe after installing the new blower. Dynoed truck with a 3.25 in. blower pulley and the stock ford lower pulley. With that combo it made 13 lbs of boost. Only mods on the truck are an Acufab throttle body and a Swanson filter kit. Truck has stock exhaust and stock fan on it. Dyno was done on 91 octane California pump gas. The Swanson chip had a very safe street tune. My truck is a street truck, not a race truck. The numbers it made before the Kenne Bell were 378 HP and 441 Torque with stock pulleys. After the Kenne Bell wet on it made 425 HP and 480 Torque. All numbers are SAE. The Kenne Bell gained 47 HP and 39 lbs. of Torque. Turn up the boost and this thing can make some serious horsepower! Horsepower does not drop off at higher rpm's like the Eaton. This thng just keeps pulling like a freight train! I do not want to get too carried away with making power since my truck has an all stock motor in it.....Lets see, where is the smaller pulley, electric fan, race gas..... this could get out of hand really easy! WHAT?? You dont want to volunteer to be the stock block test mule??
You tell us how much boost it takes to blow a stock short block to bits, and then we back off of that mark just a little.
We would REALLY appreciate it............LOL
Dont worry, just put your truck back to stock afterwards and drop it off at a Ford dealer for waranty repair

Seriously though, if you decide to up the boost, let us know what kind of power that beast makes.

low,,,, you are crazy,,, put the kenne bell on your truck since you've got all the goodies plus an extra 2lb blower pulley,,, then we';ll see where your's dyno's,, i'd imagine significantly higher. I beleive the big deal with the aftermarket blowers is they are more effecient at higher boost levels as far as how much heat they produce, blower rmp or whatever other issues come into play here. in other words if you've already got 425,,, use all the same mods and slap on a KB or works instead and you've got way more

btw,,, super hp numbers with just a 2lb lower, crazy hp numbers for a 2lb lower though, the torq numbers match up with a 2lb lower though,, just think if you went with a 4 or 5 lb lower you'd be in the 400/500 club.

Skip, I think the HP #s are great. I'm running about the same amount of boost (4#pulley) with the stock Eaton. I'm also running the same throttle body, Swanson chip and Air filter. The one difference besides the KB is my electric fan.
Danny dynoed my truck last week.

My Question is with the torque #s on your dyno run. Will the stock fan rob what seems to be a lot of torque?

I understand how they are good at higher boost levels. I personally want to keep boost reasonably low because I haul around close to 1000lbs every weekend... hence the other goodies.
I DON'T have any (beefy) engine internals, so a high boost new blower is probably a bad idea. I'm jonesing though.
Oh well, back to building my little Saturn racecar

stock fan
Took stock fan off on a previous dyno trip. picked up 6.3 HP and 12.7 lbs of Torque on back to back dyno runs on Danny Swansons dyno. My Kenne Bell numbers are with my stock fan screwed back on. Skip

wow i'm more impressed w/ his stock #s. are you saying you dynoed 378/441 with a bone stock L?? i thought the baseline was somewhere at 350-360/420-430 at the wheels
makes me wonder why i spent so much to attain only 16 more rwhp and 50-something more torque
