1/4 mile times.....how did I do?

Well, I finally ran for the first time. It was a nice 65 degrees. I had my F1's at 41psi up front and 27psi in the back. I have an 02' with a Superchip and fast air kit. I know, I know, I know. I need to improve my 60 ft. However, I was happy with my second time, 13.52.

First run:
60 ft 2.296
1/8 8.988
1/4 13.744
103.3 mph

Second run:
60 ft 2.15
1/8 8.784
1/4 13.52
103.74 mph

Please make comments.

IMO, F1's work better at 32 pounds. The F1 was not made to flex and contort like a slick. They work better when they have enough pressure to hold they shape they were intended to operate as. 27#'s is kind of low. If you have a great track, it might not matter as much.
60 ft times mean so much on these trucks!!. I ran 1.90 60fts on F1's all stock on the way to a 13.27 @ 102.2 mph. STOCK everything.
Subtract my 60ft from yours 2.15 - 1.90 = .25
If you take that from your quarter mile time 13.52 - .25 = 13.27. Probably would have done better than 13.27 because you should continue to gain as travel the 1/4. If you can drop 2 tenths off of your 60ft(and you should be able to) you'll probably drop 3 tenths overall.

You'll be amazed what you run when your truck hooks and rewards you with good 60 ft times.

Don't know if I agree with that. I ran my best 60' times of 2.0 and 1.99 w/ tire pressure well below 27#'s. When I run at 27+ I usually get 2.1x times.

Maybe it's because I run at E-town and we don't have the greatest traction.

Not a flame, but 1.99 and 2.0 arent great 60 ft times. The two tracks in my area are well preped most of the time. Driving style/launch technique play a HUGE roll in 60ft times as well. I dont go to the track to baby it off the line, you just wont run your best times that way. I went to the track, completely stock to get some base runs with just 800 miles on the odo. Came home with a few times slips with 1.90 60ft times on them. Pressure at 32pounds(F1's), stalled @ 1000rpm, and floored it on the last yellow. Its been working for me quite well.

Trust me, I know . But like I said those were my best times and I had really low tire pressure. Prior to that I always ran high 20's or low 30's and was very consistant with 2.1x's. So I attributed the lower 60' to the lower tire pressure.

But most likely I'll go back to running higher pressure since I have this thing about running the truck exactly how it drove into the drag strip.

Oh and if I floor my truck from a stop, it just spins til I let off.

Give it a try with higher pressure, but stall the truck higher. Taking the slack out of the drivetrain while getting the converter closer to its stall speed should actually help you NOT to spin.

Like i said though, the tracks around here are pretty good. Especially RT.66 raceway in Joliet, IL They VHT that damn track to the 330ft mark even on test and tune nights!!! Mainly because Funny cars and Top Fuelers tune there on the same night as everybody else.

Thumbs up

Comments: OK.
Not bad BUT you need to do better to make ME happy.
Lower your 60' (no duuuhh) try 25psi in the F1's and launch at around 1000-1200rpms. That has netted me consistant 1.935's.
I made my fastest pass last night of 13.429 @101.98 with a 1.94 60'. Your truck should be faster than mine as you can see from your MPH. Keep practicing as it really helps (everytime I go to the track I set a new personal best). Take advantage of this racing weather we're having now. Good luck and get faster/better.

Question

How many miles do you have on the truck? I'm sure you've heard they are like fine wine...they get better with time.

I only have 3k miles on the truck. On my first run I was nerves. Tried a burn out and about drove past the light. Spun more on the first pass. Spun a little on the second. My goal was 13.6 so I didn't do another run after the 13.5. I'll keep practicing.

f1's and 60's

every track is different. f1's and 32lbs at New England Drag is a disaster. One or two truck might disagree (those who have powercooler and ice chests in the back). 32lbs nets me consistant 2.4-2.6 60's. They don't prep the track worth of **** on street night. Lucky if they blow it off. I run 25lbs, launch from idle-800 rpms, net consistant 2.0 60's. Could never better that without spinning. Couple new ideas floating around for next year that traveled back from the Englishtown event a few weeks ago. I guess a few guys down there have mastered launching with f1's netting consistant 1.8's on f1's!!! If all else fails, i'll put some nittos on. Don't wanna be switching tires back and forth at the track.

Maybe we don't have the greatest traction at englishtown? I don't think the traction issue at E-town was up for dispute, it sux. I live near trenton so e-town is closer, but its worth my time to travel down to atco for a much better track...imo
