Question Fog Light Problem Poll

I am curious as to why so many people are having problems with their fog lights. I have the original's in my 99 Lightning, and 93 Cobra... never any issues with them.

I run the fog lights quite a bit of the time - used at least once a day. I have a feeling that those having problems do not use them often.

Mine are ALWAYS on, when the headlights are. Both lamps are cracked.

Main problem is, they're plastic for 01-up. According to Mark from LFP, it's due to how easily plastic cracks from temp changes. (ie, heat from being on, cold rain drop hits the lens.)

I've been to lazy to go back to the dealership about it, especially when I know they're just going to crack again! If Ford's solution is, "Don't use them as often," I'll just deal, or go aftermarket.

This problem exists in trucks all the way back to 99. I see so many people that break them, and I don't see why it is happening. I was trying to correlate broken lenses with the fact that people don't use them.

Makes sense, but I've seen alot of people cracking them who use them as often as us.

Now, MY question is, why don't the fog lights come on with the automatic headlights? What a PITA.....

It can be wired to do so... I just don't knowe how to do it, or else I would explain it to you. I never use that feature on mine... I enjoy driving with the parking lights and fog lights when it is dusk/dawn/rainy/snowy/foggy.

I've been using mine since i got my truck new back in March of 2000, so far with 41K miles on the truck no cracks. Knock on wood. I did have one of my bulbs go out about 3 weeks ago i went ahead and replaced my headlight bulbs along with the foglights.

Yeah, I've already done that. But, I shouldn't HAVE to...

I run my fogs with the headlights and one of them cracked last winter. I got it replaced under warranty when I got intercooler done.

BLACK200L: You dont have to worry about yours cracking, I have a 2k also and we have glass fogs that are way different from the 01-02 ones. I did the head light swap for a set of 01s and now I have to find a substitute for the Ford 01-02 fogs because they for some reason dont fit our bumpers.
I really hate how my fogs dont match my headlights but Im not willing to replace my bumper just to make that happen. I have been scouring the web for something else but havent found anything for sure yet. Has anyone tried the fogs from a different ford with the same diameter? like a sport track or something else?

and all you 01-02 guys check out the 3M coating you can buy for like 3 bux online. I have heard it works perfectly and you cant see it on there. Its made for fogs and headlights a like...worth looking into
