Razors Edge just released their version of the top interchangeable pulley for our truck. It is definitely a superior product in every way. Razors Edge loaned me their special puller to do the change over at NO CHARGE, and the switch took about 25 minutes to do start to finish. REM supplies TWO different dia pulley rings in it's kit and they can be switched one for the other in about 5 minutes. These are definitely the kinds of quality products I like to see for our trucks. Installation instructions were very straight forward too. The only additional part I recommend getting is a GY Gatorback belt. I highly recommend REM!
Hey Sammy,
Changing the s/c belt is as simple as releasing the tension on the idler pulley and then working the loose belt around the fan and off! The pulley rings that REM supplies produce around 1-2# for the larger pulley and 2-3# for the smaller. When doing the REM upper pulley conversion you don't have to touch the lower pulley at all. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Rich, but I thought that in order to remove/replace the belt the lower pulley cage had to be removed? I am going to pop the hood and take a look for myself later today (not that I doubt your word or anything, just want to see for myself). Maybe I am thinking of the accessory drive belt.
I've had that Dial-Ur-Boost set up on my truck for a long long time. See the initial's TR on it, That’s the name of the Guy who makes them, My buddy Terry Reals, owner of South Florida Pulley Headquarters. Great product, great guy, great company. I also use his lower pulley on my L. I've had many post about it, but people don't appreciate me talking so highly about a NON Supporting Vendor, so I don't any more. Pictures in my Gallery if your interested.
Rob,
You're right about South Florida's products. Also top notch stuff. The reason I chose REM for my top pulley was twofold. First, they incorporated a bead blasted surface into their pulley whereby belt slippage is reduced or eliminated as a consequence of changing to a smaller pulley. Second, I have seen both, and my feeling is that REM's assembly is nicer to look at. REM uses six attachement bolts of stainless steel (which I polished and look outstanding and will never rust) instead of four bolts as in the South Florida pulley. I also think the REM setup looks more hi-tech. It's all a matter of want you want to see when you open the hood.
As for Sammy, just remove the belt! It is no big deal. It is the accessory belt, closer to the engine, that requires removing the lower stock pulley cage and assembly for access. That one will take you some time to replace and you will wonder why Ford designed that lower pulley system the way the did.
Good luck,
