Extra Space when Installing Stereo Head Unit

Can some people give me some ideas on what to put in the extra space between the new head unit of my streo system? I know when you put in a new HU, that there is going to be space left over from the original stock stereo system, can someone give me an idea of what to put in that space? I know that some people have put billet lightning plates there or equalizers or something but i need some ideas.

a Valentine 1 remote display fits PERFECT but if you want to hide the wires, a small hole will need to be made for the RJ-11 cable.

Here is mine with the scosche Kit, they may have redesigned it since I got mine.

It fits a lot better than the metro kit
