REM new Air intake tube

I called REM today and asked if they are selling there air intake tube and they said yes. For $150 dollars. My question is, What does it do? Does it give any horsepower? If so, how much?

There is going to be some horsepower gain, I don't think REM is saying that it is quite yet because they haven't tested it yet to back that up. The intake is smooth on the inside as compared to the stock rubber one which isn't. REM's also just looks alot nicer, and they paint it what ever color you want, usually the color of your truck. You can go to nloc.net over to the supporting vendors section where the REM forum is, they have a thread all about it there.

Realistically, its a dressup piece more than anything else. Any gains will be minimal, but it sure looks pretty...

A friend of mine recently purchased the REM smooth intake tube. He also recently removed it due to no fault of the tube. He was getting oil from the intake running down the smooth inside of the tube and dripping out his air filter! Seems that the bellows in the original tube caught the oil before getting to the filter. That sucks!

I am having problems with oil dripping out where the hoses connect to it. I need to find a way to seal that area better.

He likes the REM tube. I think he is going to try something to stop the oil first. In the meantime, it sits on his workbench. It doesn't quite have the same appeal there. I'll ask him tonight if he wants to sell though and will post back if he does.

The Intake tube painted is 179.00 +shipping and 139.00 unpainted. As for the oil in the intake try using some type of oil seperator or other means to keep it out. It does not belong there.
