To the last of my knowledge (per a direct phone call to SVT) the date was still Nov. 4. That was 2 wks ago, and I am beginning to question blueovalnews.

man, this is BS, they were supposed to start building THIS COMING MONDAY, and now I have to wait ANOTHER month

SVT is still saying that they'll be hitting the dealerships in late December/Early January though. we'll see.

also, no L on the new platform for at least 2 yrs, '05

later,
chris

I haven't really kept up with the news but-- could this have some connection with them stopping production on the '03 cobras? Maybe they found some flaw that could be common in both the cobra and the L.

Just a guess?

they say that the factory wasn't ready for a number of small reasons to begin production, there were no problems with the vehicles or anything being changed.

SVT didn't argue with them much over pushing the dates back because there are still quite a few '02 trucks sitting around on dealer lots that they'd like to see gone before they release the '03s anyway.

later,
chris

I just got off the phone with the dealer I have my 03 on order from and he said he hasn't heard this yet, but he also said they don't seek out his aproval on job 1 dates...LOL.

He is checking on it, maybe I'll find out for sure here in the next day or so.

This would be a disapointment on one level, but if it is to make some sort of improvement, that would be OK.

I do remember reading about some labor issues a month or so ago at the plant they build them at. I believe they came to an agreement, but maybe things got a little behind in the process.

I spoke with SVT this afternoon as well and they confirmed the 12/2 start date. I was hoping to have my '03 by Thanksgiving, looks like Christmas or New Years instead.

december start date most likely equals jan/feb to start hitting dealers for a lot of us.

really depends on where in the country you are located, and probably the volume of sales for your local SVT dealership, but it seems like in years past, we haven't gotten L's and Cobras untill Feb at the earliest and sometimes even MARCH!

I am in Virginia, so some geographic areas or areas of high population/sales may get them alot sooner than we do, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high on seeing mine before Feb at the earliest.

I know it doesn't take 3 months to build and ship a Lightning, but still I have been around here for a while and know how it has worked in the past.

later,
chris

Does anyone here know if they build all the L's at one time or just random, down the line?

And I hate to be stupid here, but is the final assembly in Canada?

I really don't mind the setback date as long as they get it right the first time.

I wish they would hurry up and quit building the '03's so I can order and install my '03 rear leaf springs.
