So I'm at the gas station and see an 01 L there. Seeing how nearly all of the L owners seem pretty cool, I talk to him. Then I see he has f-150 tires. Not F1's, but plain jane all terrains. I say what happened to the F1's, he says that he got a good deal on these (rims and all). OK, whatever. Then I tell him that I have an 02 L. HE says oh the new "BOSS". It's like 400-500 HP on that SC'd engine isn't it?

Just occured to me that it must have been a fake. Duh.

 

I kinda got the same thing goin on in a town near me. Older guy has a 99 white lightning, he has stock f-150 rims and tires on it and a MAROON camper shell on the back. Front bumper cover looks like he bajas the thing. He also has maroon pinstripes with white lightning painted on the tailgate, he said that he traded his rims for the stock f-150 rims and the shell. Then added that he was probably going to be selling this summer and try to find the "new" boss 5.4s because they are overall a better quality truck? lol.

p.s. I wasn't in my truck so maybe he thought i didn't know anything...? who knows. I'll snap a pic if i see it again.

 

Those are bad, but today I saw a guy with a Reg Cab F-150 Flareside that he had re-badged with F-350 Lariat SuperDuty badges all around and PowerStroke Logos in the "right" places.

It was pretty funny.

 

What got me was, SVT on tailgate, clear corners, Lightning badges on the sides, bright red. This guy was clueless when it comes to the L or any high perf vehicle. About 60 yrs old. And the truck looked like it had never been waxed. It just never occured to me at the time that it's probably a fake. I would have looked harder. Must be this guy got the base model L w/out the SC. LOL
