Could start running 1/8's on a 1/4 track.

Or we could invent a new race. It would be who can run closest to a 12.0 with the lowest mph!!! How fast does a truck really have to be to run 12.000 @ 49.3mph When to lift off the pedal is going to be more important than 60' times. And if you hit the brakes that cheating...a new meaning for the term break out!!

well, frankly, that's a crappy plan.

my local track costs about $20bucks to race.

It's a 45 minute drive from my house. After teching in and cooling down and waiting in the lanes, you're likely to spend 2 hours waiting for your first run plus an hour and a half getting to and from the track.

So that ONE RUN had better be a PERFECT one, or else you are going to be majorly disappointed.

later,
chris

At my local track, teching in, what's that??? We race in shorts if we want to...We do wear a helmet though..

20 minute ride to my local 1/4 mile track, $12.00 at the gate to get in and then I head to the staging lanes...

Same way at my local track, they don't post the times. A lot of gambling Bling! Bling! going on...You get to know your time when the guy at the timeslip shack gives it to you before going back to the pits.

And I mean your time ticket only, you don't get to see what the other guy ran on your ticket..

are we going to "mod" ourselves out of racing alltogether?
Try Open Track events on a road course. Then, the engine mods are relatively meaningless. Plus, the fun lasts much longer (1 - 3 hours vs. 11.xx seconds).

Thanks, but there are others too, although Stan is the only one that comes to mind when testing the limits. He found most of them this year while only trying to average 10 mph faster than last season speeds (over the length of the event). He would have found more limits but ran out of parts.

Regarding Open Track events, all I can do is suggest trying them out. They're a lot of fun and you don't need anything special to do them, other than an open mind, decent brake pads and fresh brake fluid.
