'Service Engine Soon' - chip problem?
I got my PSP dual program chip installed this weekend along with the REM intake, 90MM MAF, JL5lb pulley, Oil Breather cap.
I keep getting the Service Engine Soon light to come on. When I first tested the truck and got on it, I got something that felt like hesitation. I disconnected the battery and reset the light. It got on it one other time and the same thing happened. I reset the light again and since then haven't got on it and just drive it normal. The light has come back on but the truck feels ok and acts normal, though it still kind of worries me.
A couple questions:
1) When I flip the chip from off to on (street mode to race mode) this causes the service engine soon light to dissappear, but when I flip back to street mode, it comes back on, any thoughts why? I dont want to drive in race mode though since it require 98+ octane gas.
2) I fabricated my own adapter from a K&N cone filter to the 90MM MAF, the stock sensor that used to connect to the stock airbox is not connected to anything right now. Hopefully this is the cause of the problem, if so, where can I connect it to?
3) Kind of an unrelated question, but the Oil breather cap goes where the stock Oil Cap use to go, correct?
Bye the way this is for a 2000 Lightning
Thanks.

You changed a lot at once, could make finding the problem harder. But I don't know of ANYBODY getting a code from a chip.
As for the light going off and on when you switch from Street to Track, it may be the difference of timing and A/F, but likely NOT THE PROBLEM.
YOU HAVE TO HOOK UP THE AIR BOX SENSOR, and messing with a MAF is also extremly critical, for that matter the Breather can cause a code and light to come up (lots get a light with it).
Hook the Sensor up and buy the correct adapter for the Maf, before you even attempt to figure this out.

Brap,
The sensor that plugs into the airbox is the Intake Air Tempature sensor. It tells the computer how hot/cold the air is coming into the engine. I would get this connected first and see if that helps. On the filter kits from the tuners, the sensor is made into the air filter.

You can drill a hole(slightly smaller than the IAT sensor dia,) in the rubber base of the filter and insert the sensor. Make sure it's a snug fit so no unfiltered air gets in.

But I don't know of ANYBODY getting a code from a chip.
Long and short, after getting tired of it, I took the chip out and replaced it with another brand and voila, no more problems.
I won't post any tuner names because I don't want to start another tuner war, but I'm sure the responsible party will make it right
thanks for the help everyone. I will try and install the stock sensor into the air filter first and see if that helps. I didnt think it was really a chip problem until I noticed that when I switch it to the race program, the light goes away. Anyway if the sensor doesn't solve the problem guess it will be time to call up the tuner for my chip and see if he has any ideas.
