Sold but not forgotten! (long)
I'm gonna miss her but it was time to move on before I got into serious trouble (if ya know what I mean
)! I didn't post here much but I will continue to read up on this great truck, despite some of its flaws we all know of, and all the great people on this forum.
For the past year and a half since I bought ol #449, you guys have been a great wealth of information and at times, have cracked me up (Chickenears immediately comes to mind). I've met some of you in the Atlanta area tearing up the north GA Mountains and I'll miss runnin' thru the twisties with ya.
Being a old Chevy guy, for the hell of it, I took a test drive in a used 2000 L and was hooked. Hook, line and sinker actually. I had to have one! After the test drive I sold my 6-month-old Tahoe a week later! Talk about impulse buy!
So now, the L has been replace by a 03 Chevrolet Avalanche. I realize that everybody's entitled to their own opinions but this turns out to be the best choice for me and I hope you have respect enough to not turn this into a Chevy bash.
I did consider a SCrew but I didn't want to wait for the redesign in 04.
My Lightning was the first Ford I've owned in 20 years and I can honestly say, I liked the change. The Lightning is a damn fine truck and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Take care guys and gals, be safe!
Regards,

Oh my, I am probably getting ready to make the same change. Want to sell my L instead of trading it though. I can not make up my mind between the Screw, the 3/4ton crew cab silv./sierra or the avalanche. What color Avalanche did you get? The only one I really, really like is the new dark grey and the darker grey plastic on the 03's. I like you have always been a Chevy guy but absolutely, positively without a doubt think entirely different about Ford's now after owning the coolest truck that there is, THE L!! Enjoy the Avalanche.
Thanks Mark,
I bought a black Avalanche with tan interior. It's a Z66. I'm glad Chevy made the cladding darker this year. I also like the dark charcoal. I went with tan interior because the drak grey looked too monotone to me.

Opinions are like A$$holes, some are just bigger than others. Doesn't bother me. Like I said, to each their own.
