My L Sucks.....Oil
My L Sucks.....Oil
hehe before you flame me, look agian at the title. Ok, so my L really does suck though. I use about a 1qt of oil every 1500 miles. I also had it in for service before taking my last trip and they replaced all of the pulleys (one of them was skeaking when cold), now it chews a new serpentine belt every 2000 miles. I brought it back to the dealership today for service. I only have 35K miles one it, and it is bone stock. Good thing I paid the extra 1500 for the 100,000 mile warranty, even though there is a deductable after 36K miles. My idle is rough, and I can get killed by a stock mustang gt from a dead stop. I am beginning to hate this truck. Anyone else have this many problems with thier L??
Does anyone know anything about the CA lemon laws?? Can I drop this bucket off the next time it consumes a qt of oil (been twice for same problem)?
btw I am bringing it to Huntington beach ford, in huntington beach CA. Yeah my profile says GA, but I moved here two months ago.
HELP

Exuviae,
Two things.
1.)Check and make sure your PCV is not stuck open or sticking.
2.) If not #1 then have a mechanic do a compression / leakdown test on the cylinders.
As for you power loss? If the oil isn't going out the tailpipe in a giant blue cloud, it may be all over you intercooler with a puddle under it in the lower intake. An oil covered intercooler would lose it's efficiency giving you power loss.
With the oil going into the upper intake it can crud up the back of your throttle-body plates and effect your idle or you have a bad plug or a coil going. After 35K on the motor! I would be checking all the above.
Hope this gives you some ideas. Most of the L's are pulling some oil thru the PCV. Their are devices now to catch the oil. Do a search. Some of the supporting vendors have kits or make up your own from Home Depot.
