Lower Blower Pulley Install
Hey guys. I’m about to uninstall the 6# JL pulley and put the stock one back on. Yeah I did say uninstall
I searched for some good directions, but I couldn’t find any. Anyone have any hints or suggestions? Any special tools? Is it easy to get at the wiring harness to pull the chip off?
Thank again!
Edit: One more quick question. He has the boost bypass mod from JDM installed. I can just leave that on, correct?

What are you going to do with the pulley? If you want to sell it email me. keegan_monahan@hotmail.com
Thanks Soap. No I didn't not put it on. I just bought an '01 and it came with the 6# pulley and the diablo chip. He left me the stock pulley so I'm going to put that back on and pull off the chip. I will be selling both of them when I get it off. Any hints?
What Shawn said about the pulley.......but you will also need a pulley install kit, it is a strap that locks the motor from turning. It connects the torque convertor to the trans housing.
As for the chip......you should be able to just look up under the passenger side dash and pull the chip out without removing the PCM. If not the remove the battery and battery box then use a 10mm (I think) socket and loosen the wiring harness that plugs into the back of the PCM. Then reach under the passenger side dash and pull the PCM out and remove the chip.

make sure you disconnect the battery before removing the chip...also, why are you making your truck slower
I am in need of a JL 6# pulley because as hp and tq are concerned, some is not enough, more is better, and too much is JUST RIGHT
please email me fastorange134@AOL.com and I will be happy to purchase the pulley from you.

I wouldn't pull that chip like that.
you don't have to remove the barttery, just reach down there with the 10 mil socket and un screw it and un plug it man. Then pull the computer out and pull the chip. its probably got duct tape holding in on there tight so you would have to pull the computer anyway.
why would you take that pulley off anyway?

Do I really need to get the pulley install kit? Is there another way to hold it in place?
Oh, I’m removing it because I’m afraid of the whole warranty thing. I’m new to Lightnings and I know the guy before me kind of beat it (found out after I bought it). He claims he ran a 12 flat.
Anything on the boost bypass? Do you have to remove anything to install it or is it just something I can take off and put back to normal. He didn’t give me any extras parts for it.
Thanks again.

Well 2 thoughts.......just because it ran 12 flats doesn't mean it was beat on
And if it was already chipped then the dealership will know. Even if you take the chip off, the contacts are already all cleaned up. It's kinda obvious if they want to void the warrantee.

Hey Coug.....
Don't be too concerned with the "uninstall kit".
Go down to your local muffler shop and buy one
of those perferated metal, fits all muffler hanger
straps. Then remove the inspection cover from
the torque converter, install one end of the strap
to one of the studs on the convertor, bend the strap
so you can secure the other end to the inspection cover
stud, or bolt. This will hold the crank from turning.
Cheap, but sufficent.
Just curious though. Why detune your L ???
