Have decided between two cars(1 car 1 truck)

Well my 21 st birthday is approaching quickly and I cannot decide what car or truck to get. I have it narrowed down to a 2002 black lightning or the new infiniti g35 coupe. My main concerns with the lightning are the gas mileage, seating, and engine life. Both of these vehicles are quick, 285 hp to 380 hp and have the same price tag. WHat should I get?

The Infinit will actually only have 260Hp, plus it will be 12 inches longer and weighs an additional 200 pounds over the 350 zx. It is geared towards more luxury. If you main concern is power an acceleration get the Lightning. If you are looking for a little more finess, a quieter ride, better fit and finish and more confort get the Infiniti. I am strctly driven by POWER, that is why I obviously bough the Bolt

you are right! it still has less than the 350 zx and weighs more, so it will be slightly slower.

Both are nice. But think about where you asked the question, maybe you want a specific answer so you asked here? I read in Auto week about the coupe and think my wife may need one but I am a little concerned about resale value on an Infinity.

car or truck

The G35 looks like a really nice car. That would be my second choice. If you don't need a back seat for hauling people definitely go with the Lightning. If you use a truck at all go with the Lightning. If you are not a hotrodder and just want a cruizer with good mileage go with the car. I don't know if insurance is an issue between these or not. You can't go wrong on a Lightning.

Thats not a bad suggestion for him. Its a balance of a performance car, with the proven capabilities of Ford's SVT Team vehicles.

kinda hard choice, the infiniti if you are looking for a quieter ride with more room for people, and luxury. but the L for performance and manliness. The cobra would actually be the best choice, or a GT even. You still get performance and more room than a truck. But its your call.

Heres my 2 cents worth.

21 huh............gawd if only I could be 21 again......LOL. Not really, I couldn't have afforded a choice like that at 21.
But here is my point.....maybe the Infinity would be a good car once your about middle age and have a car load of kids and that yuppie image to maintain.
Get the Lightning and have fun while you still can without everyone thinking you are some nutty old man like me cruising around in a hot rod truck.
Picture this.....You see some 230 pound grey haired guy sitting at the light and when it hits green...he white smoke his tires and takes off like a bat out of hell. What do you usually think???? Is it something like "look at that crazy old fart"?
Now you see the same thing with an obviously younger driver behind the wheel. What do you think???? Is it something like..."man that's one fast truck"?
Now, think of this......your married and have a house full of rug rats and a wife who is mostly concerned with how convenient it is to load the tribe in and out of the car. You come in and proclaim that you want to get a 30k truck that will only hold two and white smoke the tires at will. Your gonna have a problem on your hands.

Get the Lightning my man....there is plenty of time for the grand pa cars later in your life...LOL.

I totally agree with Rocks!

I'm building up my collection of 'go fast' devices now, 'cause I may be in that rug-rat situation in a year or two...I could only imagine saying to my significant other "you know, a child seat would look really nice in that Z06...except you're now gonna have to follow us in another car...let's buy it now"... I only wonder what she would say/do

Oh ya, with 0% financing, the Z06 is really tempting...

Well dude...how much do you drive and what do you do for a living? I mean, if you drive a ton, like salesman or real estate or something, the Lightning might be a bad choice. I am in real estate and have the opportunity to take other cars when working...if I did not, than I would most likely have gotten an LS or s-type, even a Navigator. But I am a 25 yr old speed freak and did have options. If you dont drive a lot, or can afford a "beater" to go with your L in hard driving/bad weather situations, go for it. Its all a matter of lifestyle.
