60 ft. Time Questions?

I have Mickey Thompson ET Streets 26" X 10" X 16" I run 12 lbs. of air pressure and still sliding about 10 to 11 ft.
My question is what should the proper amount of air pressure be and how long should I do my pre-stage burn out?
I have seen many Lightning's on these forums with low 60 ft. time what's the secret??? Also should the pressure be adjusted after every pass?

Thanks, Suavy

Most people do not do a long enough burnout. What I do is put my drivers side mirror facing the rear wheel so I can see the burnout and know what is going on.
This has helped termendously in my overall 60 fts.
Also ,Do not push down on the brakes so hard.As the tires start to spin let up a little to free up the wheels.

Great advise Vinnie.....

I have gotten a best of 1.69 several times running them at 18 psi HOT start the day at 16 psi cold then after your first burnout/pass lower them back down to 18.....voila.

Like everyone else said.......heat em up Use the sideview mirror angled down and watch fluffy white clouds billow out of the wheel wells for 5 seconds then they should be warm. Oh and letting off the brake a bit like Vinnie said helps out a lot

IMO......your air pressure is too low.

Thanks, I will give that a try this Sunday at Ubly Drag way in Ubly Michigan. I'll let every one know what happened. I was concerned cuz a few racers have told me with that Mph I should be at high 12's ??? I would love to know what that feels like.

Peace, Suavy

@ 105 I would guess 12.7-12.8 is possible. I may be at Ubly also unless the weather for Sunday looks good then I will probably be at Stanton.

BTW.......a 12 feels .299 seconds faster than you already have gone Honestly, you won't be able to tell the difference until you see your slip.

Yes, but obviously line lock would be optimum.
The trick is to get the rear wheels spinning as free as possible. When I start the burnout I look in my side mirror for white smoke and then as it shifts I let up a little on the brakes to keep the momentum up and then I run the burnout out usually about 10 ft.

I went to Lapeer Drag way Sunday and the best I got was...
Reaction . 494
60 ft. 1.96
1/8 8.886
mph 83.36
1/4 13.694
mph 101.55

I did put my mirror down and watched the fluffy white smoke come out. The truck actualy felt as if it shifted gears while doing the burn out.
The did put down the sticky spray, and seemed to be taking care of the track. I see guys with less mods getting better times. I don't know what else to do???

What rpm are you launching at? Try launching at about 800 rpm if you have a stock converter. I have tried my rpm's all over the place from idle to 1800. 800 seems to be my sweet spot. Best 60 so far is a 1.73 on a very crappy track. Zero VHT (sticky spray).

Silver Bolt,
thanks for your reply,
I have been bringing the RPM's up to 1200 and letting go at last yellow light? I have even tried to just romp on it with out power breaking.

Thanks, Suavy
