Backing up Don's Bolt

Not to restart that giant pile of crap called a thread, but since it was closed before I had a chance to chime in, just wanted to mention a few things

First off, Don is a stand up guy as all you know. He will never baffle you with bull****, so even if you folks don't like JDM for whatever reason, if Don is agreeing to anything, you can bet it's true. Don has helped me out so much with my truck and a ton of people around here that go to our track. Last Friday when I hit 12's , he was the first guy I called because I was so pumped I had to tell someone!!! (everyone was at englishtown) He read my post about the problem I had with my truck right before FFW and offered to come over first thing in the morning so we could try to get it going. Found the bad coil pack , swapped it out and he even game me a new TR6 to put back in there!!!! This is the same day he was showing me all the things he was having problems with on the new blower. Showed me how the intake was hitting the fire wall and causing a vibration when the motor torques.....still have the rubber marks in front of my house to prove it!!!!.... We took pry bars to bend the fire wall back and finally got it to a point that it was tollerable. He then showed me how the hoses were snug up against the unit itself (really ****ty having heat from the blower right up against coolant hoses). I talked to him on the phone when he was just getting back from JDM with the new blower and was telling me something wasn't right. A week later he was telling me the same thing, problem with the bypass unit. I'm not positive , but I believe he made a trip back to New Jersey just so see if they could get the thing adjusted.

I must say though, if I were selling these blowers, I would try to defend them to(SAL), and if it was in fact altered, the manufacturer wouldn't want to warrenty it, but another post pops up with magnuson trying to blame the customer for a problem with their products....starting to become a trend?????

If they are in fact selling these blowers for these trucks.....they should go right on and everything should work. From my experience, these units are far from a perfect patent. If you ask me, they are a half *** fit.

As for comparing the two on Don's truck, FFW was very hot. Don did hit 11's at the high point of the day as far as temperature goes, but DID leave his truck at the track all night and ran the next moring when it was maybe 75 and bettered his time a a few hundreths I believe. Don ran 12.1 with the stock blower on f1's. I know it was switching to the newer hoosier slicks that got him into the 11's, not the addition of the blower. I think Don would agree. Not to say that the blower didn't work or it's not effecient or more effecient, but the biggest difference was the tires.

I urged Don to go with the Kenne Bell unit, but he's saying whipple. Whatever way, his truck is still a beast and lets be thankfull it was the blower that blew and not something else.

Hey Don, this whole backfire idea causing damage to the blower may also have something to do with the coolant issue.

JUST FOR THE RECORD

If either Sal or Jim happen to read this....I respect you both for what you do, especially for us as a group. I have mostly JDM products, including my chip which is tuned by Jim. But I have to say this, this arguing back and forth is going no where. It's a loosing battle. You guys would be much better off to ignore each other rather than argue. Do us and yourselves a favor and just Don't interact. There is no winner to any argument you guys have ever had, and most of the problems between you guys that I can see is ...he said, she said... Both of you guys are great, but be great by yourselves....

Take a deep breath everyone.....I am finished. I now officially have carpal tunnell sydrom!!!

This like my second post, I have had the pleasure of meeting Sal at the NMRA race in Bowling Green, and have met Jim on several occasions, I even ran his chip at bowling green in the 03 cobra shootout and won the street tire class. To me you are both awesome tuners, I take all info. with a grain of salt, but I follow this blower wars very carefully as I want to upgrade blowers on my 03, and who better to ask than the people that have made the eaton perform above and beyond the call of duty, be it a WORKS kit, Kenne Bell kit, or something JDM comes up with I will get one, I trust Jim, juile and shaun. I saw Jim's 166 blower, and I thought it was very impressive I ran 11.7's with Jims chip, I got a Diablo chip for now and am running faster 11.6's, and on the bottle 11.1's. I would like to go back to using Jims chip, but it just hard to get ahold of him to program a chip. I thank all lightining owners and tuners for the information they post on this board

When you meet everyone in person it is a completely different then on here. At the MM and FF shootout Sal, Jim, and JL were fine together no hostility. Its like day and nite how it is in person from the boards.

Heres Rob G with Sals truck and no they werent parked next to each other. Rob drove over to Sals to snap a few pics together. Sal came over to Rob's truck and me ,him, and Rob were talking about his truck. So like i said completely different in person from the boards .

Always.

You ever wonder if after these wars they get together for a beer or call eachother up and laugh their butts off over the incident?

It's too bad the original thread got closed despite the mud slinging. There was a lot of good information between the mud. In the end the closed-thread seemed to give some good clues for the cause of Don's problem. A good detective always keeps an open mind.
