Winter Beater

I'm thinking of getting a winter beater/daily driver/car I can drive into detroit car to take some of the winter beating duty off of the lightning.

Top of my list are a 97 Seville STS...95 or so Prelude...Acura CL w/ a manual or an accord coupe with a manual.

I'm looking for something reliable but comfortable that I won't have to worry about parking near other cars...etc

Anyone have any experiance with these cars or any opinions?

I'm looking to spend under 10 grand.

Talking Funny.....

Winter "beater" for under $10,000. My winter beater would be under $2,000. Those sevilles are nice. I would get a 94-96 2 door blazer with the 6.5 turbo diesel if I could find one under 10K. Goodluck. S-10 blazers are cool too. 96 fullsize bronco(has to be OBDII). Just throwing out some ideas. I will be riding my quad in the snow. 2003 Suzuki Z-400. HeHe. -Mat-

Caddys are the shyt, my mom has a 97 Eldo and that thing hauls, not exactly what i would call a winter beater tho. How about a '94 Taurus SHO, 93k miles, green with tan interior, auto, underdrive pulleys, with all the service done on the motor ($2000 worth) at 85k??? $5,000 email me fastorange134@AOL.com that goes for anybody interested...car is located in MA

Ah yes, the Caddy STS winter beater... my car of choice!

You be hard pressed to find any good condition 97's under 10k, they usually go for around 15k if the miles are not outragous.

I picked up my 93 STS with 60k miles on it for ~$8k, KBB values it at ~$10.5k. The car does have good pickup...97 is a fast year too, 95 is the other... There's also a few low-cost mods you can strap on for +30hp, then another 15-20hp with an aftermarket exhaust...turn off the traction control and you can probably get some 13s in the 1/4mi easy.

Cool

Found me an awsome beater! 2001 Ford Focus. White...so it wont show scratches, dings, etc. Great gas mileage...around 34-35 mpg. Goes good in the snow...FWD. Can park anywhere ( since its so small...ZX-3 ) Also only had 19K miles on it and was in mint condition like it was just off the showroom floor. Bought it from an old lady locally who just lost her husband, it was his car and she wanted rid of it. She practically gave it to me for $6000! I felt kinda bad getting it at that price...but what are you to do? Tell her no...I'll give you $7K? LOL.

Wow, your guys definition of a winter beater, is alot different than mine. I spent $300 on mine and then had to put $500 more into in, since I bought it in 1999
And it runs 75/80 mph down the New Jersey Turnpike every morning....and will do so in about 30 minutes
btw...i've put 13K miles on it and it only has 78K on the clock

NOW THATS WHAT IAM TALKING ABOUT

I just picked up a 92 F150 4X4 with 52,000 original miles from an older gentleman who took pretty good care of it. And its a flareside, so I get a subliminal Lightning feeling all winter!

I've got a 94 ISUZU Trooper w/160K and it still runs strong. 4WD, very roomy and has a pretty good cargo area to haul you winter mod projects.
