Lightning or Harley D?
Lightning or Harley D?
Please can I have your thoughts/ comments as to whether I should sell my Lightning for a Harley D F150? I have now got 2 children and does not get used as much as I would like.I live in England and the Harley would be an import, so I cannot test drive one first.I have a Dakota Club Cab for work which I can also use to take the family out, but the Lightning was my hobbie and more fun to drive. Will the Harley D handle like the Lightning? will it be as fast? I've been offered a deal which I can sell both trucks for the Harley D and some money back, but I'm not sure if I will like the Harley D as much as the Lightning, or should I keep what I've got.The Harley D seems to have a very big cab for just one extra seat, I feel it will not live upto the Lightning as I like sport trucks and don't usually associate extended cabs with sports trucks.

The 02 HD will give you 90% of the performance of the L, with a lot more room. With just a few mods, it performs as good (or better than) a stock L in a straight line. With a longer wheelbase and a couple hundred extra lbs, the HD won't be quite as agile as the L, but they do pretty good. The kids will be a lot safer strapped down in the back.
the HD sounds like it will better suit your needs, and you won't regret it. as for performance, one member on here is running a 13.07 with his 02 with the stock rims/tires and stall converter. it has potential
I have the same problem. Two kids and a wife in a three seater L. I went to the Ford dealer, the Harley looks very nice and can be made to go just as fast as the L. I would take off the Harley badges though and give them to some biker, the truck is just way too fast to have anything saying Harley on it.

david,
I'm pondering the same thing
... The 02 HD's are very nice, the shadow grey hue is REALLY growing on me, and the go-fast goodies will fit... . Not something to take on a road course.. well maybe once or twice.. hehe
wonder how one would look with 01 L wheels or 99 chromies
In due time...

I can probably answer this better the most. I have both in the 2002 Flavor. I bought the HD for the wife to drive, though I have put on a couple thousand of those miles myself in it-- the Lightning is mine, and is about 2-2.5 months old with just under 3k on it.
